**WHAT**YOU'LL**BE**DOING**:**

The Chaplaincy Team Leader is a permanent, full-time 10 month/year position (September through to end of June), which includes, the week before the first day of school and the end of the week after school, each year. This full-time position will consist of 35 hours per week, with a regular schedule to be determined in consultation with the Principal. There may be times or events that will require some flexibility with the schedule throughout the school year. The Chaplaincy Team Leader will focus on providing a pastoral role within the educational environment to promote spiritual and human development to both staff and students, families, friends, local parishes, and to all members of the Catholic school community. Chaplaincy Team Leaders support school Principals in advancing the goals outlined in the schools Catholic School Improvement Plan for Student Achievement and Well
- Being (CSIPSAW), as well as the Catholic Graduate Expectations.

Internal and external contacts include but are not limited to Diocesan and Board professional staff, students and staff at elementary and secondary schools, and community agencies throughout the

**KEY

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Providing pastoral leadership to the school community;
- Supporting and implementing the Board Pastoral Plan both at the school and board level;
- Encouraging the development of the Catholic faith amongst students and staff by offering opportunities for participation and leadership in community worship, class masses, daily prayer, scripture reading, peer ministry, peer mediation, music ministry and Eucharistic ministry;
- Organizing retreats for students and staff;
- Developing, implementing, coordinating programs and practices for students to volunteer in the wider community such as Service to Seniors, local missions, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Development and Peace, Share Lent, youth shelters, and to encourage faith in action;
- Providing pastoral care through visits to students, staff, and parents, at hospitals, wakes, and

funerals;
- As a member of the Student Success team, acting as a point of contact for students and staff in difficult situations, cultivating dialogue, connecting to members of the clergy, certified health care professionals (EFAP), outside social or community agencies and maintaining a network of contacts, as deemed appropriate for the situation;
- Providing pastoral leadership at various meetings, weekly administration meetings, Student Success meetings, Curriculum Chair meetings, Priest/Principal meetings, Family of Secondary Schools meetings, Parent-Teacher interviews, Grade 8 Information and Grade 9 Curriculum Night meetings;
- Liaising with parish and diocesan staff, Board chaplain, other Chaplaincy Team Leaders, parent councils, Board committees as required;
- Coordinating and participating with the school Crisis Intervention Team to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff;
- Working collaboratively with all members of the school community to ensure students and staff are supported and nurtured in their faith and well-being; and
- Assuming other duties as assigned.

**WHAT**YOU'LL**BRING**TO**THIS**POSITION**:**
- Bachelor's Degree, preferably with training in Pastoral Care or Youth Ministry;
- One to two years of experience in youth work, pastoral care, teaching, or counseling;
- An understanding of chaplaincy and ministry as it pertains to the Roman Catholic faith;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Must be a practicing Roman Catholic with a current pasto
