**What YOU Will Do**

Under the supervision of the Vice President - Environment and Sustainable Development, the incumbent is responsible for maximizing the participation of Aboriginal communities and businesses in flagship construction projects located in Quebec and the Atlantic provinces. This person ensures the implementation of a strategy that allows the full participation of Aboriginal Peoples in Pomerleau's operations, in collaboration with the various departments related to Aboriginal relations (Government Relations, Construction, Business Development, Procurement, Talent, Culture and Leadership, Communications, etc.).
- Based on best practices, current internal initiatives, and taking into account the needs of Pomerleau’s projects, define a strategy to develop lasting and respectful relationships with Indigenous
- Peoples and contribute to their participation on construction projects.
- Provide strategic advice on maintaining relationships with Indigenous people, communities and organizations.
- Identify, track and monitor issues, concerns and needs identified by Indigenous communities, clients and partners and determine how Pomerleau can help them build mutually beneficial relationships and capacity building programs.
- Research, analyze and advise Management on regional, provincial and national issues that impact Indigenous communities.
- Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with key Indigenous communities and organizations in Quebec and in the Atlantics.
- In collaboration with the Business Development team, help identify potential business opportunities with Indigenous communities and organizations.
- Contribute to the creation and negotiation of agreements and partnerships.
- Define the needs and opportunities and provide the support required by the various departments (Government Relations, Construction, Business Development, Procurement, Talent, Culture and Leadership, Communications, etc.) to maximize the full participation of identified Indigenous Peoples.
- Liaise with construction project teams to ensure that the commitment to Indigenous communities is met and documented appropriately (e.g. assist in the production of an Indigenous Commitment Plan, presentation to the community, liaison, in-project support, reporting, etc.).
- Determine clear and realistic objectives and develop performance indicators to measure the expected progress.
- Develop a cultural awareness plan and training for employees and senior management.
- Assist in training workers on construction sites located in Indigenous communities to raise awareness of cultural differences and ensure that projects are carried out in a manner that respects the practices and cultures of Indigenous Peoples and their communities.
- Collaborate in the implementation of an internship program for Indigenous people.
- Participate and represent Pomerleau at various regional events.
- Highlight successes and good practices in relationships with Indigenous Peoples.
- Ensure accountability and support the production of the sustainable development report.

**What YOU Will Bring**
- University degree in Engineering, sustainable development, human science, community development, Indigenous studies or a similar field.
- At least five (5) years of experience in a similar role.
- Knowledge of the construction industry, an asset.
- Knowledge of the different Indigenous communities in Quebec and in the Atlantic Provinces.
- Knowledge of Indigenous history, culture, and forms of governance.
- In-depth knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Bilingual (English and French).
- Ability to speak an Indigenous language, an asset.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to coordinate and manage Indigenous consultants.
- Is very versatile, shows initiative and has an aptitude for working in a multidisciplinary team in the field of construction.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to manage priorities and autonomy;
- Has a cooperative approach and leadership skills.
- Shows initiative, curiosity, creativity and flexibility.
- Has a positive outlook with a constructive approach based on innovative solutions.
