- ** Qualifications**: Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited School of Social Work. Current full registration with the BC College of Social Workers.
- ** Experience**: At least seven (7) years' recent related professional clinical Social Work experience, including 3 years in a supervisory role in a health care setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience will also be considered.

Detailed Overview: Under general administrative direction of the Manager, Clinical Operations the Clinical Practice Leader, Social Work is a key member of the interdisciplinary team. The Clinical Practice Leader is responsible for the planning, organization, direction and growth of the Social Work department. This incorporates the development and delivery of Social Work services throughout the Surrey hospital and residential programs, incorporating supervision of staff, program planning, allocation of resources, workload, budgeting and quality improvement initiatives. Responsibilities:

- Establishes, implements and evaluates the objectives, policies, procedures and standards, as they relate to Social Work, to meet hospital and department goals and objectives in collaboration with the Manager, Clinical Operations.
- Establishes, implements and evaluates standards, Quality Assurance programs, work methods, procedures and systems and initiates changes in procedures as required. Evaluates and participates in the development of inter-disciplinary policies and procedures.
- Supervises designated staff by interviewing, selecting, orientating, providing input to disciplining, directing, and carrying out performance evaluations of departmental personnel and organizing in-service education programs. Processes grievances in consultation with Human Resources and the Manager. Manages other staff functions, such as work schedules, approval of vacation and leave of absence requests.
- Prepares budgetary information as required for approval by the Manager, Clinical Operations and implements corrective action to control department expenses in compliance with approved budgets.
- Approves the requisitioning of necessary supplies and equipment for the day-to-day operation of the department according to hospital policy and procedures.
- Determines workload measurements and other reports as required. Develops and maintains statistical data related to such items as, department activity levels, attendance, leave of absences and performance appraisals. Makes recommendations on how services may be changed or improved to the Manager, Clinical Operations.
- Represents the Social Work profession for the hospital and residential programs and establishes and maintains liaison with related departments, other Hospital, agencies and associations. Maintains a close working relationship with other departmental personnel. Provides leadership in the development of the profession at the local and regional level.
- In conjunction with the Manager, participates in the development of proposals and specifications for purchase of major equipment and program enhancements for the department.
- Consults with the various programs regarding the impact of social issues on health (poverty, homelessness, discharge planning, etc.) providing information and resources to improve health care outcomes including the impact on length of stay.
- Oversees the preparation of, or prepares staff work schedules to ensure efficient use of department staff; ensures completion of payroll records for all department staff according to established policies and procedures.
- Enforces all safety regulation, instills safety awareness in department staff and follows up on all safety recommendations as required; ensures all department employees are updated on safety.
- Acts as a key link with academic institutions and organizations.
- Assumes a clinical caseload as required. Plans, implements and evaluates treatment of assigned patients.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications**:Education and Experience**
Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited School of Social Work. Seven (7) years' recent related professional clinical Social Work experience, including 3 years in a supervisory role in a health care setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Current full registration with the BC College of Social Workers.
