Team Leader

**Team Leader (Metal Shop, Day Shift)**

The Metal Shop Team Leader is responsible to support the Metal Shop Supervisor in the consistent achievement of the production schedule, efficiently and within budget to ensure the highest quality products for our customers. This is a hands-on role which will work collaboratively with other departments as well as production personnel to coordinate and maintain the flow in the plant, with a focus on the Metal Shop. The Team Leader will also support and motivate production personnel as well as driving initiatives that will lead to improvements in KPI’s.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Work closely with the Metal Shop Supervisor to lead and oversee team members.
- Assist the Metal Shop Supervisor in planning and communicating daily production schedule.
- Train, develop and motivate team members.
- Motivate and inspire team by creating a safe environment that promotes positive communication, encourages bonding of team members, and demonstrates flexibility.
- Provides feedback to Supervisor regarding teams performance, including participating in the performance appraisal process.
- Assist with monitoring time and attendance to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Work to ensure people and resources are applied in an efficient and effective manner to meet delivery requirements while achieving quality and safety standards
- Operate departmental equipment if circumstances warrant and assist personnel in machine set up when required.
- Arrange for relief of equipment as required and relieve on equipment if necessary.
- Ensure that team members follow defined manufacturing procedures and comply with quality requirements in accordance with ISO-9000 procedures.
- Ensure full adherence to 5S (Sort, Set In Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) practices at all times
- Ensure all records are completed appropriately.
- Ensure that non-conforming material is clearly identified and segregated
- Ensure the team are aware of day-to-day targets and responsibilities.
- Ensure achievement of production throughput against stated capacity targets.
- Ensure line set-ups for following shifts.
- Identify improvement opportunities.
- Responsible for training of operators for products and processes.
- Communicate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) from the department plan so that each employee is aware of expectations and deliverables.
- Provide product expertise within team and respond to operator queries.
- Work positively with support functions to fully define the processes/procedures/controls relevant to team activities. Provide support and input to continuous improvement activities within the team.
- If there are any issues with production or fulfilling orders on time, quickly identify these problems and find ways to resolve them so that deadlines are still met without compromising quality.
- Responsible for ensuring Work Instructions are relevant and up to date.

**Qualifications/Skills/Experience**:

- Team Leader experience.
- Exercise considerable initiative/judgement in achieving production goals.
- Understanding of production costs to include waste, downtime, scrap and re-work.
- Work independently with mínimal supervision.
- Ability to lead by example, gain respect from team and communicate with clarity while demonstrating excellence in approach to work and people activities.

- Ability to manage a wide variety of activities at the same time

**Salary**: $20.00-$28.00 per hour
