**Job Overview**:
The main responsibility of the Kennel Attendant position is to care for the health and welfare of the boarding dogs in the Kennel. A subsidiary responsibility is front office work including payment collection, conducting facility tours for potential new clients, checking dogs in at drop off and checking out process at pickup.
We are seeking a dedicated Kennel Assistant to join our team. The Kennel Assistant will be responsible for providing care and support to animals in our facility.
**Duties**:
- Working collaboratively with others to maintain the entire physical Kennel in a clean, sanitary and efficient manner on an ongoing basis.
- Maintaining kennel runs in a clean, sanitary and efficient manner.
- Accurately provide dogs with their provided diet, medications and water.
- Ensuring client dogs' health and well-being needs are properly maintained including walks and administering such medications as specified by the dogs’ owners.
- Maintain a high level of standards to portray a compassionate and caring Kennel.
- To perform other duties, as required, which are necessary to ensure the smooth operation of the Kennel.
- Receiving animals for intake and pickup.
- Merchandise sales
- Performance of general office routines and record-keeping
**Qualifications you need to have**:
- Valid Class N or 5 BC Drivers’ License
- Sound knowledge of dogs, their breeds, characteristics and more common ailments
- Strong desire to provide excellent customer service skills: patience, professional, positive attitude, attention to detail, adaptability
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Resourceful team player who excels at building trusting relationships with colleagues and customers
- Highly motivated self-starter who takes initiative with mínimal supervision
- Position is physically demanding and includes heavy lifting, pushing and pulling which requires an individual with the ability to maintain a level of fitness and endurance to fulfill the required duties
- Computer experience: Windows, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Ability to prioritize demands on time
