Ryder System, Inc. is built on experienced staff with a clear understanding of what is expected, the precautions needed, and the absolute care required when handling shipments. This position requires demonstrated knowledge of the international shipping industry and customs processes as well as exceptional customer service to high-profile clients. You will be required to be proactive and coordinate with international parties, operations departments, and clients to ensure successful project completion. You must be proactive with clients and operations to ensure seamless project management, and immediately communicate any changes that may arise to stakeholders.
**_The key responsibilities of this position include:_**
- Prepare shipping documentation, and work closely with International customs brokerage, warehouse and road transport departments.
- Build and maintain excellent, direct working relationship with the client and carriers.
- Create, maintain and adhere to client Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Exceptions to Standard Procedures (ESPs).
- Provide support, guidance and mentoring to Release Operations members to ensure accurate release and rating activities are completed to achieve service levels.
- Work directly with clients/carriers to obtain missing documentation, information and/or instructions.
- Works directly with Customs and PGA's (Partner Government Agency) as necessary.
- Participate fully with other team members in the day-to-day operations of the team, including setting priorities, organizing and scheduling work, coordinating with others, problem solving and decision-making, participating in meetings and handling special projects.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management. Adhere to established policies and procedures.
- Schedule & coordinate shipment bookings with clients with a focus on international moves.
- Work with and provide support to senior fine arts staff & management.
- Work in a fast-paced environment, keeping acute attention to detail.
**_Qualifications:_**
- 3+ years of experience with a strong understanding of the International freight forwarding business - air, ocean, and over the road experience required.
- CIFFA certification is an asset but not required
- Comprehensive understanding of operational procedures regarding International and domestic air transport, ocean transport, and international import/export process.
- Knowledge of permits, international import/export restrictions as related to client projects.
- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office suite, database experience, etc.)
- Able to take charge, make decisions and positively manage change as and when needed.
- Understanding best practices for the handling and transporting needs, with a focus on the customer demand.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Strong administrative and organizational capabilities; attention to detail is an ABSOLUTE MUST.
- Excellent understanding of customer needs - particularly within the international freight forwarding industry.
- Outstanding communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
