You must acknowledge and agree to comply with any future vaccine policy requirements as an ongoing condition of employment at the City of Hamilton. **SUMMARY OF DUTIES** Reporting to the Supervisor of Landscape Architectural Services, this position is responsible for performing technical and administrative duties related to capital construction projects including investigating and resolving construction related concerns. These projects may include trails, parks, general open space, and minor structures such as shelters, culverts and retaining walls. **GENERAL DUTIES** Receive, investigate and resolve construction concerns from businesses and residents. Receive and investigate inquiries from staff, public, other departments, contractors, elected officials, utilities and suppliers in support of project managers. Arrange for investigations and material testing such as concrete, asphalt and soil. Write and interpret reports, compose correspondence, compile statistics, track construction warranty periods Notify utilities, Ministry of Labour, residents and businesses of construction projects. Input, manipulate and retrieve construction information data. Visit sites where needed. Schedule pre-construction meetings; take and transcribe minutes. Arrange for sign boards, baseline surveys and pre-construction videos. Complete forms such as final report, accidents and overtime. Maintain records such as correspondence and report files. Prepare work schedules for capital projects. Oversee the section’s activities as they relate to construction preparation and construction. Compile City contracts, maintain standards inventory, assemble tenders. Perform other duties as assigned which are directly related to the responsibilities of the position. **QUALIFICATIONS** - Demonstrated knowledge of the theories and practices landscape architecture usually acquired by obtaining a degree in landscape architecture or a Diploma in landscape Technology or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience. - Eligibility for membership in the Ontario Association of Landscape Architects is considered an asset. - Demonstrated ability to investigate and resolve construction complaints, manipulate computerized construction data and write and interpret technical reports. - Demonstrated ability to arrange for pre-construction meetings and prepare associated documentation. - Demonstrated ability to organize multiple construction projects for more than one project manager and prioritize assignments. - Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in written form with the general public and private sector. - Must understand the processes of tendering and constructed municipal public open spaces such as parks and trails. - Experience in a computerized environment.
