Toronto, Canada Avenue Road Music and Performance Academy Full time

Avenue Road Music and Performance Academy, home of the Gordon Lightfoot Concert Hall, seeks a Music School Manager/Director to lead the flourishing Academy to greater heights. A registered charity, the School is located in a historic mansion at 460 Avenue Road in mid-town Toronto. The opportunity will appeal to a talented and enterprising professional in the music and dance community, with experience in building a successful school.

**Responsibilities**

Designing distinctive programs across diverse areas of music and dance education

Promoting the School to its target communities through traditional and social media

Allocating and scheduling use of physical space for classes, private lessons and practice rooms

Hiring teachers/negotiating contracts/ holding performance evaluations

Overseeing logistics for flow of students, and protecting the safety of their space while at the Academy

Relationship management with parents, students, feeder schools

Working with teachers to set high teaching standards for the School, through lesson plans, measurement of student progress, and awards for student achievement.

P&L responsibility

**Qualifications and Personal Attributes**

University degree or equivalent

Strong music background with teaching and program management experience

Business or sales management training and experience

Must have facility with MS Office, MyMusic Staff software, and budgeting software

Organized, detail-oriented, reliable, collegial, enterprising, and in possession of a good sense of humour.

Desirable: Recording and video editing experience, familiarity with distance-learning

Required: commuting distance within 10 km of the School

**Time commitment, Salary and Benefits**

Time commitment is 40 hours/week, with some weekend time, traded off against free weekday time

Starting salary to depend on experience; bonus available consistent with growth

Benefits include access to medical/dental insurance at subsidized rates, free parking at building site, and paid vacation days
