**What You Will Do**

The individual will focus on business origination through their network of contacts / referral sources and will also engage in the evaluation, execution, documentation and closing of new senior and junior debt transactions. The individual will have an entrepreneurial mindset and the desire to win as part of a high-quality team in a rapidly expanding asset class.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited, to the following:

- Business development through existing network along with the development of new referral sources and direct drive origination in the Canadian mid-market. Relationships will include the C-suite of middle market corporate companies, financial sponsors, advisors, lawyers, and other financial institutions
- Contribute to the development of a differentiated leader in the Canadian mid-market lending space
- Analyze various market trends and identify opportunities
- In depth analysis of potential investment opportunities
- Review and analyze detailed financial models, including valuation and return analysis, ratio analysis, cash flow analysis, and various risk scenarios.
- Guide financial and operational due diligence including all aspects of the underwriting process
- Lead due diligence and investment recommendation presentations for Investment Committee.
- Ongoing relationship management of investments along with internal and external stakeholders
- Work closely with the Partners of the fund along with members of Connor, Clark & Lunn Financial Group’s support teams in the areas of finance and accounting, investment performance measurement, marketing, etc.

**What You Bring**
- **Ambition** - A desire to win and play a significant part in building a market leading private debt franchise
- **Resilience**- the resilience to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment within an emerging asset class
- **Experience**: You have 5 - 10 years of relevant experience in private debt, leveraged finance, investment banking and/or corporate finance/transaction advisory services. Strong background in financial modelling, research, and analysis, and exposure to a high number of transactions. Exposure to the US private debt mid-market would be considered an asset
- **Knowledge**: You have an undergraduate degree in a related field. Master’s degree in a related field would be considered an asset, as would other financial designations such as CPA or CFA. Strong credit background is an asset; proficient in all phases of capital structure analysis, including investment analysis of 1st and 2nd lien financings
- **Communications**: Excellent oral and written communication skills
- **Team-Oriented**: Engaging, entrepreneurial and able to work independently, while also comfortable working in a team
- **Credit Fundamentals**: Excellent account and financial statement analysis skills, building and working with financial models in Microsoft Excel, along with due diligence and underwriting skills.
