As a Utility Inspector, you will monitor and inspect the installation of water, wastewater and drainage infrastructure in new development and redevelopment areas. You will ensure assets of the best quality are built and accepted for network integrity while protecting existing infrastructure, the public and the environment. Primary duties include:
- Ensure installations meet specifications, standards and codes, and conform to approved drawings, plans and profiles through verification of depth, grade, line assignment, materials and environmental protection.
- Perform pressure, leakage and chlorination tests, flushing of mains, and water quality sampling.
- Issue permits and field/work orders to ensure compliance and facilitate quality and process improvement.
- Prepare inspection and installation reports and certify construction completion and final acceptance.
- Liaise and collaborate with the development industry and partners on work planning, deficiency management, solutioning, education programs, and to resolve customer complaints and inquiries,
- Review CCTV submissions and as-built drawings for acceptance, provide expert design/operational support, and perform duties such as relief and business support and special projects.

**Qualifications**
- A High School Diploma or equivalency (e.g. GED), job-related course work and at least 5 years of experience OR;
- A completed 2 year technical diploma in an Engineering related discipline accompanied by at least 3 years of experience designing, installing, or inspecting/supervising construction of water utility infrastructure.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's Licence (or provincial equivalent), with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending OR; a valid Graduated Driver's Licence (GDL) with no more than 4 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending.
- Ability to obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit within one month of hire.
- Working knowledge of underground utility construction standards and specifications, safety and environmental regulations is required.
- An intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required.
- Excellent time and priority management skills, the ability to work well under pressure, a strong customer focus, and the ability to work effectively in both a team environment and independently.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Possess a high attention to detail and thoroughness, with the ability to see the big picture.

**Working Conditions**:Office and outdoor work around construction sites in all-weather conditions.**Pre-employment Requirements**

Compensation: Pay Grade 10 $42.62 - 56.97 per hour (2025 Rates)
Days of Work: This position typically works a 5 day
work week, with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle.

Hours of work: Non-standard 40 hour work week
