Looking for a skilled HCA or LPN to join our team taking care of our 19 year old daughter with Transverse Myelitis in the HCA role.
Our daughter is paralyzed from the neck down and is on a Ventilator. She is cognitively healthy and is able to talk, eat, and knows how she like her care. She is very specific with how she likes her care done.
We are looking for someone who is **fluent in English and speaks clearly.**Someone with excellent verbal and nonverbal communication who is professional, caring, and committed long term.
We need an HCA or an LPN that is quick on their feet and who can take direction well. Someone who can handle crisis situations and emergency care. Someone with an understanding of trauma responses and has a large aptitude for empathy. Our daughter is extremely medically complex and her care can take up the entire day so also someone who has good time management skills and who knows how to cluster care and use their time wisely.
*This Job requires someone who can handle the mental and physical strain of working with a Spinal Cord Injury patient (adult size but still a kid).
**Jobs would include (but not limited to);**
- Feeding orally
- Transfers with lift and repositioning
- Performing Range of Motion
- Peri Care and full body care.
- Supporting your team members.
- Emptying urinal logging intake and output.
- Ostomy bag changes
- Suprapubic catheter changes
- Communicating within a team and problem solving
- Laundry
- Light Cooking
- Charting
- Basic Tracheostomy and Ventilator care including suctioning.
- G-tube care and feeding.
- Showering with Commode.
- Some light cooking
- The ability to show up for work on time and give adequate notice of holidays and sick days.
- We are looking for someone who is confident in their skills, who can learn quickly and who is honest and hard working.
You will work with an LPN and family as part of a homecare team we have a wonderful caring team who are kind and courteous with each other, we employ 10-13 individuals at a time.
In this position you will always have support from our LPNs and Parents and will be expected to work professionally with other caregivers in a team environment.

Our home is in NW Calgary. We have three lovely dogs from Large to extra small.
