**BROAD RESPONSIBILITIES**

The Assistant Cook assists the Kitchen Manager in the preparation of all meals & snacks, maintaining proper health standards, and following the standards established by Canada’s Food Guide and the Huron Perth Health Unit.

**RESPONSIBLE TO**:
1. Assist the Kitchen Manager in the preparation of all meals and snacks.

2. Preparation and care for special diets, including vegetarian, vegan, allergies, gluten-free, lactose-free, and halal options as required.

3. Maintain the service in accordance with all laws, ordinances, regulations, and rules of the local health unit and the standards of safety and health established by Camp Kintail.

4. Follow adequate standards of cleanliness and sanitation in food handling, food storage, and food service.

5. Ensure that all kitchen dishes are washed after each meal.

6. Work closely with the Kitchen Manager and Director in creating theme meals.

7. Work closely with the Kitchen Manager and Director in the preparation of food supplies for all Outdoor Adventure camps.

8. Attend regular staff meetings.

9. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Camp Director or Kitchen Manager with generosity and team spirit.

10. Participate fully as a staff member and by word and deed encourage a faithful Christian witness.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Interest in food service and preparation.
- An education in culinary arts or relevant experience in culinary management.
- A current SAFE Food Handler certificate.
- A willingness to work in a team environment.
- Flexibility and a sense of fun
- A personal living faith.
- Standard First Aid with CPR “C”.

**DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO**:

- The Kitchen Manager
- The Executive Directors

**COMPENSATION & TERMS**:

- Salary offered will be dependent on qualifications and experience.
- The Camp Kintail kitchen runs seven days a week, three meals a day. This position would be for five days a week, with days off dependent on the schedule. It will include weekend work.
- Camp Kintail provides a variety of catering options. We provide meals for summer camp, adult groups, weddings, and everything in between. It is all quantity cooking.
- Work with a Red Seal chef.
