JOB SUMMARY
The CNC Specialist will be responsible for creating, optimizing, and maintaining computer numerical control (CNC) programs used in the manufacturing of precision components. You will play a critical role in translating engineering designs and specifications into machine-readable instructions to produce high-quality parts. This position will assist various other operational departments as technical advisors in their specific area of expertise. This will include, but limited to, manufacturing optimization, prototyping and testing of new products, enterprise-wide standardization, new equipment acquisitions, major equipment refurbishment, upgrades, modifications, major-event trouble shooting etc.
DIRECT AND/OR INDIRECT REPORTS
CNC Specialist will report directly to the QC Manager
CNC Specialist currently does not have any direct reports. But may have an apprentice(s) in their area of expertise in the future.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
Management/Supervision/Leadership (if applicable)
- Lead and oversee the CNC programming activities within a manufacturing organization.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to a team of CNC programmers.
- Lead the development and optimization of CNC programs across multiple facilities/Group of companies.
- Act as primary liaison with vendors/supplies in your area of expertise.
- Advise and recommend solutions to overcome unforeseen roadblocks.
- Assist the R&D design team in prototyping and testing of new products.
- Support enterprise-wide standardization of equipment and staffing
- Advise on new equipment acquisitions, major equipment refurbishment, upgrades, modification etc.
- Assist in major event troubleshooting etc.
- Mentor junior programmers

Health and Safety (mandatory)
- Creates and maintains a culture of Safety First, leading by example and holding the team accountable.
- Works in compliance with the Health & Safety Act and regulations including using any equipment, protective devices or clothing required.
- Reports any known workplace hazards or violations of the Act to the employer or supervisor.

Technical/Function (if applicable)
- Utilize advanced CNC programming techniques, including multi-axis programming, macro programming, and post-processor customization.
- Optimize programs to minimize cycle times, reduce setup requirements, and maximize machine utilization.
- Internal/External Customer Service (if applicable)
- Promotes and demonstrates Toro Core Values by leading by example and collaborating with internal customers and stakeholders to improve customer experience.
- Maintains excellent relationships with Toro 's suppliers & vendors.

Administration (if applicable)
- Provide weekly summary reports as establish by the department manager.
- Track process improvement and assist with SOPs.
- Support KPI Metrics
- All other duties as delegated and assigned.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Extensive experience as a CNC Programmer in a manufacturing environment, including significant experience with complex component programming.
- Proficiency in advanced CNC programming techniques, multi-axis programming, macro programming, and post-processor customization.
- In-depth knowledge of CAD/CAM software, such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Mastercam, Inventor or equivalent tools. Knowledge of FSTLine is considered as an asset.
- Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling selection, and cutting parameters.
- Ability to interpret complex technical drawings, specifications, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Proven track record in optimizing CNC programs for efficiency, cycle time reduction, and improved machine utilization.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex program and machining issues.
- Strong leadership and mentorship abilities, with experience guiding and developing junior programmers.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Commitment to adhering to safety regulations and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

- Developed and optimized CNC programs for FOM/Salvagnini/Prolines using CAD/CAM software, ensuring efficient and accurate machining processes.
- Collaborated with design engineers and machinists to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Implemented tooling selection, cutting parameters, and machine setup to maximize productivity and achieve high-quality results.
- Conducted thorough testing and troubleshooting of CNC programs to identify and resolve any issues or errors.
- Utilized lean manufacturing principles to streamline processes, reduce waste, and improve overall productivity.
