- **Position Summary**:_

The Community Support Worker (CSW) is a member of the interdisciplinary team that supports children and youth to pursue their goals, access community resources, and self-advocacy. CSW’s perform front-line work in this program and utilize the client-centered approach and primary practice model. The CSW is responsible for assisting clients with social, economic, mental, and physical health well-being. The role is extensive and carries with it responsibilities in the counseling, teaching, and training areas, as well as recording and reporting.
- **Key Roles and Responsibilities**:_
- Support the individuals in maintaining their physical and mental health on an ongoing basis.
- Recognize and respond to signs and symptoms of physical, emotional, and mental health needs that require immediate attention.
- Promote and practice Trauma-Informed care.
- Establish a supportive and professional relationship with the individuals and their support system.
- Review person-centred plans and ensure activities and goals are focused on achieving the plans.
- Address individual needs not identified in the person-centered plans regularly, as needed.
- Share information regularly with the individuals accessing support and other team members.
- Promote safe environments for the individuals accessing support by assisting in the development of safety skills and adhering to all emergency procedures.
- Lift, carry, and/or assist individuals as needed to prevent injury to themselves or others.
- Ensure staffing ratios met and to maintain individual safety.
- Assist individuals to find and engage in specific opportunities for community participation and involvement.
- Ensure the individuals rights are always respected.
- Encourage and support the individual to maintain their own well-being.
- Recognize the signs of abuse and acting on concerns immediately.
- Promoting awareness of abusive situations and appropriate responses.
- Support the advocacy process.
- Provide clear, accurate, and timely records and documentation (log notes, monthly/yearly report, Medical Running Records, Critical Incident Reporting, contact notes).
- Attend team meetings, as required.
- Other duties, as required.
- **Qualifications and Requirements**:_
- Three (3) years experience as a Community Support Worker or related discipline.
- Education in Community Support Worker, or other related post secondary education.
- Experience working with children and youth.
- Proven experience practicing Trauma Informed Care would be considered an asset.
- Experience in working with diverse cultural and religious communities.
- Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture, beliefs, and traditions.
- Certification (not required upon hire, but considered an asset if already obtained): Medication Administration, First Aid and CPR, Self-Harm Awareness, Suicide Intervention, NCI and Restrictive Procedures, Crisis De-escalation, Diversity/Cross Culture, Qualify Improvement/Outcome Measure, Indigenous Awareness, Trauma Informed Care, MANDT, Harm reduction, Abuse Prevention/Protection of Persons in Care Act, and Food Handling and Storage training
- A Clear Police Information Check (Vulnerable Sector and Criminal Record)
- **Skills & Abilities**:_
- Proven ability to extend patience and empathy towards individuals who experienced trauma.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong personal boundaries.
- Strong interpersonal skills that bridge the distance with individuals that may have a resistance to relationships, different morals/values and alternative lifestyle choices.

**Job Type**: Part-time

- 12 hour shift
- Evening shift
- Morning shift
- Night shift
- Overtime
- Weekend availability

- First Aid Certification (preferred)
- Suicide Intervention Certification (preferred)
