The Personal Support Worker, under the direction of the Assistant Director of Care, Charge RN, RN or RPN, is the primary front-line
monitor of resident well-being and reports any changes in resident status or concerns to the registered nursing staff. The PSW assists in
the delivery of high-quality, person-centered care on assigned Resident Home Areas. Duties are discharged in a manner that is consistent
with the mission, vision and values of Providence Care Centre, the Resident’s Bill of Rights, and the requirements of-the Long-Term Care
Homes Act and Regulations. The PSW delivers basic nursing and hygiene care for residents and assists them with activities of daily living,
based on assessed needs and care-plan requirements.***
**Roles Responsibilities**
- The PSW provides direct-care for residents as outlined in the written care plan or as requested by the resident. Direct Care
encompasses but not limited to: assistance with activities of daily living; exercise, positioning and ambulation; bowel and
bladder care; any other care required to ensure resident safety and comfort.
- Assists residents with matters of personal hygiene and grooming which may include: toileting, bathing, showering, hair
care, nail care, shaving, combing and other care as stipulated in the resident’s care plan or as requested by the resident.
- Contributes to the development of the resident care plan.
**Required Qualifications and Experience**:
- Personal Support Worker Certificate from an approved college preferred (equivalent education and experience may be
considered)
- Good attendance, good physical condition, including the ability to carry out physically demanding duties is essential
- Have an understanding of the Abuse and Neglect reporting requirements of the Long-Term Care Homes Act of Ontario.
