The Manufacturing Supervisor reports to the Manufacturing Manager and is responsible for the completion of parts and assemblies that are ready to be kitted and delivered to our main welding division. The cornerstone responsibilities of this role are Quality, Duration, Safety and overall schedule of production.
Main Responsibilities
- Create Schedule to have reporting departments produce in alignment but with overall production schedule.
- Establish manpower requirements based on scheduling and budgetary goals.
- Drive continuous improvement through the effective use of all inventory and resources, the management of productivity and workflow, the streamlining or implementation of processes and procedures, the increase of efficiencies, and the elimination of waste.
- Communicate job expectations to all team leads, and productive personnel.
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment by ensuring work is performed in a safe and efficient manner in compliance with company policy and government legislation.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Develop and supervise a regular cleaning schedule to ensure the work areas are held to the Aspen Standard.
- Guidance of Machine Shop
- Guidance of Brake, Saw, iron worker.
- Guidance of Small welding assembly including the use of jigs and Fixtures
- Mechanical Assembly (Axles and other running Gear)
- Plasma Table
- Robotic Weld Center
- Work in partnership with Material handling team
Attributes and Skills
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and use good decision-making practices.
- Excellent documentation control
- Excellent resource scheduling ability
- Ability to maintain a professional and calm demeanor in challenging situations.
- Ability to identify procedure and process improvements and advise the appropriate stakeholders.
Experience and Education
- Requires 8-10 years of experience in heavy fabrication manufacturing. Familiar with a variety of manufacturing concepts, practices and procedures.
- Rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Previous experience supervising multi-disciplinary custom manufacturing teams.
- Experience with industrial equipment, trucks and trailers.
- Experience with an ERP or database system.
- PMP considered an asset.
- Six-sigma or other lean credentials considered an asset.
- Red -Seal Journeyman certificate considered an asset (Welding, Fitting or Machine)
Working Conditions
- Regular exposure to industrial shop hazards which require additional protection from noise, fall hazards and air quality.
- Fast paced environment with tight deadlines.
- Working hands on with team on floor in a supervision role
Shift Availability
- Days Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm
