**Casual, On-Call, Part Time (Monday to Friday, up to 25 hours a week, afternoon shifts between the hours of 1:15am to 6:15pm).**

At BGC Cochrane & Area, Child Development Mentors play an essential role in providing exceptional, high quality childcare in our licensed program. For nearly 30 years we have supported children, youth and families in Cochrane & Area through Out of School Care (K-6), Summer Camps, Youth programs, Youth Outreach services, BGC Day Homes and community partnerships. Our mission is to provide a safe, supportive place where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life.

We are developing our exceptional team for the new school year 2024-25 and have part time, the majority are afternoon shifts, Child Development Mentor positions available. Our fun and recreational program supports over 100 children (K-6) every day across all our locations. Over the summer months, Child Development Mentors facilitate our active Summer Camps program. We pride ourselves in delivering a dynamic program with professional, energetic staff that work to uphold licensing standards and BGC Operating Standards.

**This role is eligible for Alberta Wage Top Up ($2.64 to $8.62 depending on level).**

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Active supervision and engagement to ensure safety and wellbeing of all children
- Creating a positive and encouraging environment for children
- Program planning, preparation, and delivery
- Preparation and serving of a snack with a focus on healthy choices and nutrition
- Consistent and effective team communication
- Cleaning and program space maintenance
- Upholding the Mission and Core Values of BGC Canada; Belonging, Respect, Encouragement, Working Together and Speaking Out
- Ongoing participation in professional development opportunities and training

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Interest in and passion for the child care profession
- Experience with children in a child care setting, preferably in a licensed setting
- Demonstrated children’s or recreation program development & delivery experience
- Alberta Child Development certification *priority will be given to applicants with a Level 2 or 3 Early Childhood Educator Certification or equivalency.
- Understanding of a strength-based approach to engagement
- Strong relationship building and communication skills
- Current standard first aid certification will be required in this role
