Pediatric Care Aide

At **Big Hearts Home Healthcare**, we are dedicated to providing compassionate and personalized care to individuals of all ages. Our goal is to enhance the quality of life for children with medical needs, ensuring they receive the support they deserve in the comfort of their home. We are currently seeking a **Personal Care Aide or HCA for Pediatrics** to join our team, providing essential care and assistance to children with medical, developmental, or physical challenges.
Under the direction of the Operations Director, **Personal Care Aide or HCA for Pediatrics** provides direct care to clients to fulfil the physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual needs of clients and in accordance with the home's policies, procedures and work routines.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Assist children with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Provide mobility assistance, including transfers and positioning.
- Assist with meal preparation and feeding.
- Help with prescribed therapeutic exercises and physical activities.
- Administer prescribed medications as directed by healthcare providers.
- Monitor and record changes in the child's health, behavior, and overall condition.
- Ensure the child’s safety and well-being in the home environment.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to the child.
- Maintain a clean and organized living space for the child.
- Support socialization and recreational activities.
- Work collaboratively with families and other healthcare professionals.
- Document and report care activities as required.
- Assist with any additional caregiving tasks as needed.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Health Care Aide certification
- Personal Support Worker Diploma
- Previous experience in pediatric care or working with children with special needs is highly desirable.
- Regular lifting and moving clients, equipment and supplies
- Recent and clear Criminal Record Check
- Organizational skills and ability to complete assignments in a timely manner
- Proof of required immunizations: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hep B, TB, etc.
- Reliable vehicle and clean drivers abstract
- Ability to read and write English/Other languages an asset.

COVID-19 considerations:
All workers must wear a mask, gloves, and socially distance from clients when possible. We do not service care homes and only service individual clientele in their own homes

- Campbell River, BC (V9W): reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
