APEX Enrichment Academy provides high-quality enrichment programs for children across Halifax, focusing on sports, arts, and STEM learning. We create a safe, fun, and supportive environment that helps kids build confidence, teamwork, and lifelong skills.

**Job Summary**

**Responsibilities**
- Plan and lead engaging, age-appropriate basketball sessions for children ages 7-15.
- Teach core basketball skills including dribbling, passing, shooting, defense, and teamwork.
- Develop and implement training programs that promote sportsmanship, participation, and growth.
- Provide constructive feedback to help players improve their individual and team performance.
- Foster a positive and inclusive team culture built on respect, encouragement, and effort.
- Communicate effectively with parents, students, and APEX program staff.
- Maintain safety and supervision standards during all activities.

**Requirements**:

- Proven experience coaching or teaching basketball to children or youth.
- Background in sports, recreation, or physical education is an asset.
- Excellent communication and classroom or group management skills.
- Positive, energetic, and dependable personality.
- Must hold or be able to obtain the following:

- **Child Abuse Register (CAR) Check** - confirming your name is not listed on Nova Scotia’s Child Abuse Register.
- **Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)** - enhanced criminal record check from local police or RCMP.

**Additional Assets (not required but an advantage)**
- Experience in other youth programs or sports such as Badminton, volleyball, martial arts, swimming, or outdoor games.
- Lifeguard or first aid certification.
- Experience working in educational or recreation-based environments.

**Compensation**
- **$20-$25 per hour**, depending on experience and qualifications.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 2 months

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 3 per week
