**Furniture / Cabinet Finisher**

The Furniture / Cabinet finisher is an important member of Expression of Wood team, as he or she assists with all aspects of finishing quality products for our customers, as it is representative of our brand and image for high quality workmanship. Therefore, he or she works in a safe and efficient manner at all times to support the Manager / Owner and to ensure project work is completed on time while meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
**MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
The Furniture Finisher is responsible for:
**Project Prep Duties [40%]**
- Understand the different finishes used on furniture and cabinets
- Estimate the time it will take to finish the project
- Make sure stock of finishes is maintained
- Prep pieces for finishing
- Strip and refinish pieces as needed
- Pick up supplies as needed, safely storing extra supplies
- Maintain and clean finishing equipment and spray booth
**Cabinet / Furniture Building Duties [30%]**
- Help in the shop building, sanding and other task
- Glue panels
- Sand and cut panels to size
- Assemble the project to the quality needed
- Cut plywood panels
- Edge band panels
- Finish sand and make ready for stain, paint, or clear finish
**Final Product Steps [30%]**
- Stain finish product
- Help load finished furniture or cabinets for delivery and set up as required
- Help with the installation of built-in cabinets

**REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES**
The Furniture Builder must know:
- Read and interpret blueprints and shops drawings accurately
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) to be able to handle cleaners, adhesives, and finishes
The Furniture Builder should be able to:
- Communicate effectively and professionally with owner / manager, co-workers, customers, and other stakeholders encountered
- Operate hand and use a wide range of equipment and tools, from basic hand tools to commercial / industrial woodworking machinery efficiently and safely
- Follow directions and be an effective team player
- Maintain patience, eye for detail, and self-motivation
**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
- 2 years of experience in furniture / cabinet finishing
- Class 5 driver’s license and clean driving abstract
- Cabinet and / or furniture building training an asset

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**
The typical physical demands of the Furniture Builder include:
**Strength Requirements**:
Must be able to lift loads up to and including 100 lbs in a safe manner, as well as heavier loads with the assistance of others
**Motion Parameters**:
Required to be on feet for long periods of time while doing repetitive tasks
**Work Environment**:
Must be able to work in environments that range from dusty workshop to unknown customer sites, wearing eye protection, dust mask, and steel toe boots when required by safety practices
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
**Salary**: $18.00-$23.00 per hour
