The **Plant Operations Manager **will oversee the day-to-day operations of a custom manufacturing facility, ensuring production efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to quality and safety standards. This role requires a blend of strategic oversight, operational expertise, and hands-on management to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality production. Key responsibilities and qualifications are as follows:
**Key Responsibilities**

**Operations & Resource Management**
- Plan, organize, and oversee daily plant operations, including production schedules, workflow optimization, and resource allocation.
- Ensure products are manufactured on time, meet quality standards, and adhere to customer specifications.
- Oversee inventory management processes to maintain optimal stock levels of raw materials and finished goods.
- Monitor daily operations to ensure schedules are adhered to, addressing issues proactively.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure successful project execution
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production rates, efficiency metrics, and quality outcomes.
- Prepare budgets, forecast resource needs, and manage costs to maintain profitability.

**Quality Assurance**:

- Collaborate with the quality assurance team to maintain strict adherence to quality standards aligned with Lean Six Sigma principles..
- Address production defects and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, increase efficiency, and enhance product quality.

**Software Tools and Implementation**
- Oversee the selection, implementation, and maintenance of manufacturing software to improve work flows and collect and present production performance data.
- Train staff on new software tools to enhance productivity and operational visibility.

**Training and Workforce Management**
- Develop and execute comprehensive training programs for staff, including Six Sigma certification opportunities.
- Assign roles and responsibilities based on skill sets, ensuring optimal workforce utilization.
- Monitor employee performance and provide feedback to support career development.

**Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance**
- Establish and enforce plant safety policies and ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
- Conduct regular safety training sessions for employees and address any safety concerns promptly.

**Qualifications**
- **Education**: Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- **Experience**: Minimum 5-8 years of experience in plant operations within a manufacturing or fabrication environment, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role. Expertise in production planning, ERP systems and manufacturing software tools.
- **Skills**: Proficiency in Lean, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement techniques; strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills;
- **Certifications** Nice to have: Certifications in Lean Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt preferred) and Project Management (PMP).

**Performance Metrics**

Success in this role is measured by:

- Achievement of production targets and quality metrics
- Efficiency improvements in production and cost savings
- Employee engagement, turnover rates, and safety incident reduction
- Inventory turnover and waste reduction rates
