**Salary Range: $59,811 to $67,786**

The position of Early Learning and Child Care Quality Improvement Project (ELCC QIP) Researcher will work collaboratively with the (ELCC QIP) Manager and the Early Learning and Child Care team within the Labour Market Development Department to support the implementation of the Early Learning and Child Care Quality Improvement Project’s vision, goals, and objectives. The Researcher is responsible for gathering, analyzing, and summarizing findings, with a primary focus on community and inquiry-based research, Indigenous research ethics, and methodologies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- University degree in Education, Social Science, or related field, a post-graduate degree is considered an asset;
- Minimum of two years’ experience working with Indigenous communities;
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of factors that influence Early Learning within Indigenous communities;
- Knowledge of Early Learning and Child Care programs and agencies (both Federal and Provincial) within the Anishinabek Nation;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and relevant computer systems, programs and software) and able to learn new technologies and tools; and
- Must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License, be insurable under the organization’s vehicle insurance policy, and be willing and able to travel regularly for work-related events, meetings, and other duties as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

- Ability to use inquiry-based research to understand community vision related to First Nations Early Childhood Education;
- Ability to understand and speak Anishinaabemowin or willingness to learn;
- Ability to work with tact and discretion; high level public relations skills;
- Ability to work effectively as a multi-disciplinary team member;
- Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and problem-solving abilities;
- Demonstrate professionalism in attitude and behavior;
- Ability to facilitate professional discussions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Collaborate with the Quality Improvement Project Manager and the Early Learning and Child Care Team within the Labour Market Delivery Department for the coordination of research activities to ensure that the project progresses in accordance with predetermined timelines;
- Support the implementation of the project’s work plan to ensure alignment with the vision, goals and objectives of the project plan and the department;
- Conduct literature searches, reviews, and critically appraise and interpret published literature;
- Prepare a variety of research-related documents, including reports and papers;
- Ensure that research methodology adheres to data governance principles such as OCAP;
- Assist with the facilitating structured project participant interviews and focus groups;
- Develop and deliver presentations and training session to project personnel and participants; and
- Other duties as assigned.
