**Geerlinks Home Hardware Building Centre & Design Gallery** **Role**: DZ Moffett Operator - Delivery Driver - Lumber Yard **PRIMARY FUNCTION/OBJECTIVE** Geerlinks Home Hardware Building Centre & Design Gallery (‘GHHBC’) is currently seeking DZ Moffett Operator. A Driver / Delivery Personnel’s main focus is **customer service**. The driver/delivery person is responsible for delivering products and/or supplies to customers, vendors, jobsites, or other locations. Duties include operating freight handling equipment, maintenance and operation of company vehicles, verification of administrative paperwork, and working with the public at large. The delivery person must safely perform all assigned tasks with sufficient speed and accuracy to avoid adverse impact on the customers experience and the quality of the product(s) being delivered. **DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES** - Assist all customers to the best of your ability and always seek help when needed - Deliver product to customers - Move heavy and bulky merchandise for customers and for sales personnel - Assist in loading and unloading materials and building supplies - Take all necessary safety precautions when handling freight, tools, and equipment - Be familiar with the location(s) of all inventory and equipment - Report any shortages, damaged goods, and backorders to your Supervisor - Make suggestions for rule, policy, and/or procedure changes when you think that such changes will improve efficiency, morale, profits, sales, etc. - Do odd jobs and run errands - Perform light vehicle maintenance (check oil, etc.) - Maintain vehicle maintenance records - Check delivery documents - Report company vehicle maintenance needs to supervisor - Follow company procedures regarding required signatures, forms, receipts, etc. - Report complaints from customers to management - Follow all safety precautions when operating company vehicles and loading or unloading freight - Be alert for sales opportunities - Follow all delivery and receiving procedures and company policies as determined by management - Follow proper documentation procedures for any merchandise that is to be returned or refused - Maintain proper security over merchandise and delivery documents - Attend meetings, training sessions, etc. as required - Work on additional duties and assignments as assigned by management - Work in a safe manner in accordance to provincial and federal safety legislation, as well as use of good common sense. - Report any potential hazards and unsafe behavior to management in order to have the situation corrected - Must be able to communicate effectively with customers, management, other employees in person, or by telephone - Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings. - Must safely operate loading, unloading, and transfer equipment (forklifts, pushcarts, computer, etc.), as well as company vehicles. Must safely secure cargo. - Must move excessive weight to or from company vehicles in the delivery process. - Must maintain a good driving record and lawfully operate all company vehicles used to make deliveries. - Must maintain current driver’s license. - Must come to work on time and be ready to work when your shift begins - Must arrive to work with proper Home Hardware apparel including safety boots and high-visibility clothing/shirt - Work on any special projects/additional duties assigned by your Supervisor/Management, after determining their priority in relation to your other duties **EDUCATION/SKILLS REQUIRED** - 3+ years’ experience as DZ Certified Driver - Clean driving abstract - Possess a high regard for safety in the workplace - Being physically fit is an asset - Able to lift at least 60 pounds unassisted - Able to lift at least 100 pounds with assistance - Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays - Excellent communication skills - A ‘can-do’ attitude with a desire and willingness to learn is an asset - Willingness to continually develop professional skills and knowledge base with company support - Ability to work cooperatively in team atmosphere **WORKING RELATIONSHIPS** - Reports directly to Yard Manager > General Manager **LOCATION** Geerlinks Home Hardware Building Centre & Design Gallery 295 Wellington St, St Thomas, ON N5R 2S6 Pay: From $23.00 per hour **Benefits**: - Company events - Dental care - Discounted or free food - Flexible schedule - On-site parking - Store discount - Vision care Schedule: - Day shift - Monday to Friday - Night shift - Weekends as needed **Experience**: - DZ Driving: 3 years (required) Work Location: In person
