Field Technician

**Job description**

Niagara Testing & Inspection Ltd. is looking for junior to senior levels of geotechnical field technicians and technologists for field compaction testing using a nuclear gauge, concrete sampling and testing, footing evaluations, material laboratory testing, field groundwater sampling, field soil sampling, etc. Our engineering consulting firm is located in Thorold, Ontario. Previous working experience in southern Ontario is preferred. Holding a CCIL Concrete Testing Certificate is preferred.

**Responsibilities**
- Evaluation, material testing and sampling for a wide variety of geotechnical and geo-environmental consulting projects involving small and large earthwork projects.
- Geotechnical and environmental sampling, soil testing, compaction testing using the nuclear gauge,

**Skills & Qualifications**
- College Diploma in Geological, Geotechnical, Civil Engineering, Geo-Environmental Engineering or other related disciplines as a minimum requirement
- Willing to work extended hours to meet the timelines
- Strong report writing and verbal communication skills in the English language
- Valid driver’s license and own vehicle with a clean drive record

**Assets**
- Valid CCIL certification and valid safety tickets
- Mechanical aptitude
- Previous experience in materials testing/ geotechnical engineering
- Previous experience with AutoCAD, borehole log software, slope analysis software
- Experience with construction testing, borehole drilling, bedrock rock coring, slope stability investigations
