Toddler/Preschool ECE and Inclusion Coodinator

Pay: $23.59 - $28.61 per hour

**Job Type**: Full time 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

**Job Description**:
Horton High Childcare Centre is seeking a full-time level 1 - 2 classified ECE to work a total of 7-hours per day, 35-hours per week.

This full-time position requires the applicant to take on various roles and responsibilities within the centre, so is best suited for those that are able to be flexible and have previous knowledge and experience working in a fast-paced child care environment.

About our Centre:
Horton High Childcare Centre is a small child care centre attached to a high school located in Wolfville, NS. With only ten children in attendance at any one time and three other full-time staff members, our centre has a comfortable friendly family feel. Being attached to a high school means that our centre only operates during school months and closes for Winter break, March break and the Summer vacation months.

Education and Training Requirements:
Valid Level 1 or above Nova Scotia ECE Certification.
Current First Aid Certification that includes infant/child CPR/AED.
Vulnerable Sector Check (we can provide a letter to be taken to a local RCMP detachment).

**Job Description**:

- Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times
- Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, intellectual, emotional and social development including but not limited to games, crafts, music and storytelling.
- Attend to children's basic needs, including feeding, dressing, diapering and toileting.
- Arrange indoor and outdoor environments to facilitate creative play, motor skill development and safety.
- Observe and evaluate children’s behavior, as well as physical, intellectual, social and emotional development. Complete a progress report on each child twice yearly (November and May).
- Assist with household duties such as laundry and washing/sanitizing toys and classroom equipment
- Plan and organize age-appropriate activities based on the interests of children
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to maintain certification
- Maintain effective communication with children, staff and caregivers
- Provide leadership within the center in relation to issues of diversity, equality and inclusion. This includes but is not limited to creating yearly goals and self evaluations under the Quality Matters program.
- Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use, both in learning activities and imaginative play. This includes but is not limited to setting up invitations such as playdough, coloring, scissors and paper etc.

Additional Requirements:

- Only seeking applicants currently residing in Nova Scotia. We are unable to sponsor any individual due to the small size of our program
- MUST have reliable transportation to and from our centre (we are NOT on a public transit route)
- Flexible and passionate about working with young children
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborative and works well in a team
- Able to provide two references for work or experience related to early childhood care and education
- Preparedness for outdoor activities and changing weather conditions
