Private Tutor

Knowledge Bump Tutoring and Editing Services is looking for an individual **based in Ontario** to provide tutoring services. This is individual is someone who wants the opportunity to work with a diverse set of students of all ages, each with their own set of unique talents and learning goals and needs. As a private tutor, you will have the opportunity to learn directly from experts in the fields of pedagogy and gamification, to be part of a growing company that is changing the industry standard of excellence, to work remotely, and to meet other like-minded folks who also have a passion for teaching and pedagogy.

As a private tutor, you will use your expert knowledge and specialist training to help students from **kindergarten to grade 12 (General Science K-10, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics 11-12)** understand concepts and details necessary for academic success **in Science (both in English and French Immersion)**. You will work with students one-on-one and customize their lesson plans to their learning goals, curriculum requirements, preferred learning strategies, and their unique abilities. Additionally, you will be provided tools based on cutting-edge, research-based teaching methods to help you help your students best

Key responsibilities:

- Work with students one on one to assist them with their learning needs
- Prepare lessons, activities, and assessments for each lesson, as well as homework if applicable
- Work directly with the Founder to create a customized learning strategy for each student
- Be the first point of contact for the student and parent(s) **Evaluate the progress of the students and report said progress to the student's parents and to head office on a regular basis**:

- Manage session and teaching schedule, and communicate with head office when changes occur
- Keep record of work completed with each student
- Help students develop other necessary skills like communication, critical thinking, and active listening skills

Technical requirements and core competencies:

- MINIMUM Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in Languages or English Literature (Master's or postgraduate diplomas preferred)
- MINIMUM 2 years teaching and/or mentoring experience with children under the age of 18
- A reliable internet connection, a well-functioning webcam and microphone, and the ability to use Google Workspace, Office 365, Adobe Reader, and other video conferencing, word processing, and data entry software
- A laptop or desktop computer
- The ability to quickly learn new software
- Adabilility, reliability, and professionalism are a necessity
- Fluency in English
- Ability to present/create/and play games with students using screen sharing, Google Jamboard, and/or other tools
- Ability to understand high-level academic papers, particularly in the field of pedagogy, is an asset, but not required.

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Salary**: $20.00-$22.00 per hour
