**Salary: $ 28.75 per hour, 17.5 hours per week**

**Position Overview**:(Non Union)**

In accordance with established vision and values of FRAFCA and under the direction of a Clinical Supervisor and in consultation with Mental Health Case Managers, the Cultural Support Worker will provide support to registered clients to maintain life skills and prevent eviction according to the individual care plan. This position is administratively responsible to the Manager or designate

**Job Description**:
**Role and Responsibilities**:
1. Provides direct support to clients to maintain life skills and independence. Areas of focus may include household management, personal care, community access, social/recreational activities, and money management.

2. Provides support to enhance clients’ self-advocacy skills and abilities to effectively use community, government, health and social agencies.

3. Provides support and assistance to clients to develop natural supports in their community.

4. Provides information to enhance and reinforce the clients’ understanding of their illness and their commitment to medication and care plan compliance.

5. Observes client functioning and behaviour, and document as required.

6. Provides input to the Clinical Supervisor and/or Case Manager in modifying individual care plans.

7. Communicates observations and activities to Clinical Supervisor and/or Case Manager.

8. Schedules client visits according to established guidelines.

9. Attends team and staff meetings and education sessions as requested by Employer.

10. Provides other related services as requested by the Manager or designate.

11. Performs other related duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training and Experience**:
Grade 12 or equivalent, graduation from a recognized Human Service Worker program or Social Service Worker Program; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience with Mental Health Certificate

Experience working with mental illness is an asset

Food Safe Level 1 Certificate, Basic First Aid Certificate, Non-violent crisis intervention training, and Valid BC Driver’s License.

**Skills and Abilities**:

- Practical knowledge of psychiatry and mental illness
- Ability to perform duties independently
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong observation skills
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to organize, set priorities and follow through with direction
