**Salary**: $24/hour
**ABOUT BARRIE AREA NATIVE ADVISORY CIRCLE (BANAC)**:
The Barrie Area Native Advisory Circle is a regional social planning and development organization. The BANAC service region covers Simcoe County, Muskoka, and the northern York Region. BANAC works in cooperation with communities in areas of concern where coordinated efforts are required to meet the needs which positively impact the region. BANAC will continue in this social planning capacity, offering consultation and support for our community development. BANAC offers many innovative programs and services including Alternative Dispute Resolution, Family Wellness, Childcare, Seniors Care and Long-Term Care, Cultural Services, and wholistic Healthcare Services through the Mamaway Wiidokdaadwin Indigenous Interprofessional Primary Care Team.
**ROLE DESCRIPTION**:
- Plan and develop community projects and coordinate activities with representatives of the Indigenous Coalition tables, mainstream systems and within BANAC
- Work with BANAC and community partners towards achieving goals and objectives set out the BANAC community strategic plan
- Assess opportunities and develop strategies to address any barriers in services and systems within the community
- Strong research skills and ability to communicate
- Implement goals and objectives of the Indigenous Coalition tables as assigned
- Continue to build and develop working relationships with funded services to ensure continuity of services within the region
**WHAT YOU BRING**:
- Relevant college or university level accreditation; preferably in the health sciences/social services field
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position - preferably in the nonprofit community housing or social service sector
- Demonstrated knowledge of First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities, cultures, perspectives, and housing service providers is required.
- Thorough understanding of principles and practices of Indigenous engagement is required.
- Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task, produce and coordinate projects to tight deadlines. Ability to collaborate and work on a team.

**Information About Working at BANAC**:
- Work is typically performed in clinic, office, and community settings.
- Regular travel to meetings and communities will be required - vehicle an asset.
- Regular overtime work may be required from time to time, BANAC team members enjoy a flex schedule agreement.
- Periodic exposure to smoke may occur from the burning of sacred medicines: Tobacco, sweet grass, sage, or cedar.
Specific employment conditions are specified in an employment contract with BANAC and include the following:
- Worksite location
- Valid C.P.R. and A.E.D. Certificates required.
- Valid Class G Ontario Driver’s License is required with clear check for vulnerable sector.
