The Deli Server is responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction, consistency in the preparation and presentation of menu items, and that all aspects of the front of house are maintained and executed professionally and to the highest possible standard within the guidelines of company policies and procedures.

**Responsibilities include**:

- Acting as a team member to serve customers in deli, dining room and grocery area
- Attending work in approved company dress code, with pen and name tag
- Preparing sandwiches, salads, entrees, desserts and espresso drinks for guests to eat-in our take-out
- Serving meals to guests’ tables and conducting a two minute check-in to confirm that meals are to guests’ satisfaction
- Clearing guests’ tables when meals are finished and asking if they would like a specific dessert (e.g. tiramisu) or a specific coffee (e.g. espresso)
- Preparing guest checks, asking guests if they had a dessert or beverage and adding to guest check, and processing payments at the cash register
- Understanding the full scope of the Loyalty Program and how points are earned and redeemed
- Serving customers above all else before doing any form of preparation/stocking
- Facing into the dining area/store when doing any form of preparation to ensure backs are not towards guests
- Acknowledging guests at all times; when a line-up presents itself, making eye contact to those next in line and advising “we will be with you in a moment’
- Restocking deli showcases as necessary to maintain an attractive presentation
- Walking around to front of showcases to ensure visual presentation, signage, and cleanliness is up to standard
- Consistent participation and adherence to opening and closing duties and daily/weekly cleaning schedules
- Ensuring that each and every guest of the Italian Market is satisfied with the service/food and addressing concerns, requests, or issues either individually or by escalating
- Having sound knowledge of products sold and inherent ingredients
- Upholding standards of food handling and occupational health and safety legislation

**Qualifications**:

- Passion for all things Italian
- Two or more years experience serving customers in a foodservice environment, preferred
- Barista skills, including the use of a manual espresso machine, preferred
- Demonstrated attention to detail and adherence to company standards, including cleanliness, product consistency/quality
- Commitment to providing excellence in customer service
- Ability to work collaboratively with peers and employees of other departments of the company
- Flexibility for scheduling including availability to work on weekends and to stay at work beyond scheduled end time as business warrants
- WHMIS and Food Safety certification

Pay: $15.70 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 37.5 per week
