Acclaim Health announces the availability of one (1) Established Part Time Personal Support Worker position (equivalent to 18.75 hours/week) working Mornings at Patty’s Place for a one (1) year contract. The individual will be required to work seven (7) shifts bi-weekly. Shift times could be anywhere between 7:00am-12:30pm and 7:00am - 12:00pm Including a weekend rotation.

**PRIMARY FUNCTIONS**:

- Provides homemaking and personal support services to individuals in shared care facility..
- Provides personal care and activities of daily living to clients
- Performs delegated tasks as directed and trained by a Care Manager, Health Services
- Assists with meal preparation and feeding as required.
- Assists/engages in therapeutic recreation and activities as appropriate during the client’s stay in the overnight service area
- Communicates changes in client condition or other complex situations to the Respite Coordinator
- Documents information pertinent to the client’s stay in overnight respite service.
- Effectively utilizes recognized GPA principles, communication and behaviour management strategies for working with persons with dementia
- Works in a manner that ensures client safety

**POSITION REQUIREMENTS**:

- Personal Support Worker Certificate
- Registered on the Ontario PSW Registry
- Medication Administration course (will be provided)
- Food Handling Certification (will be provided)
- Certification in Gentle Persuasive Approaches in Dementia Care (will be provided)
- Valid Ontario driver’s license, use of vehicle and insurance per the company policy.
- Certification in Basic First aid including certification in CPR-Basic Rescuer.
- 1 to 2 years of experience working in gerontology and working with cognitively impaired persons
- Understanding and knowledge of dementia and age-related experiences.
