At UBC, we believe that attracting and sustaining a diverse workforce is key to the successful pursuit of excellence in research, innovation, and learning for all faculty, staff and students. Our commitment to employment equity helps achieve inclusion and fairness, brings rich diversity to UBC as a workplace, and creates the necessary conditions for a rewarding career.
Job Summary
UBC Department of Psychiatry is partnering with BC Children’s Hospital to develop an Interventional Psychiatry Clinic which will provide new treatment options for patients with severe mental health conditions. Interventional Psychiatry is an emerging subspeciality for treatment of several psychiatric disorders which have not responded to conventional therapies. Three domains of treatment will be offered: brain stimulation techniques (e.g. ECT and Transcranial Magnetic Simulation); novel drug treatments (e.g. Ketamine), and novel digital therapeutics (e.g. virtual realty). Clinical trials will enable researchers to further understand the benefits of Interventional Psychiatry in the child and youth population.
The Research/Project Coordinator will play a key role in establishing clinical and research protocols, coordinating logistics for set up of the Clinic and producing communication materials relevant for patients, families and other partners.
Organizational Status
The Research/Project Coordinator will report directly to Dr. Roberto Sassi (Chair of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Division, of the UBC Department of Psychiatry), with co-supervision from Dr. Trudy Adam (Assistant Professor, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Division, UBC). This position will work closely with researchers, clinicians, and project managers from BC Children’s Hospital and will collaborate on activities with project teams. The coordinator will also liaise with other universities and hospitals across BC, Canada, and internationally to share experiences.

2. Gather recommendations from project teams to identify and implement solutions for logístical parameters to ensure successful completion of projects.
3. Assist in developing timelines and work plans for multi-phased and multi-pronged projects (including clinical and research arms)
4. Works collaboratively with stakeholders to draft relevant documentation such as policies, procedures, and protocols (research and clinical).
5. Works collaboratively with stakeholders to produce communications and knowledge exchange materials. (Using various formats - presentations, reports, briefing notes, webinars, newsletter updates, posters, etc.)
6. Under direction of supervisor and/or Project Manager, participate in the budget development process, administering and tracking expenditures and liaising with funders as required

The Research/Project Coordinator will exercise initiative, sound judgment, and tact in working with faculty, staff and with contacts at other institutions. Attention to detail and organization is imperative. Errors or poor judgement can impede the work of the Clinic development, result in delays to timelines, and compromise collaboration among partners.
Supervision Received
The coordinator will work independently with general guidance from the Supervisors. The Supervisors and Project Managers will provide strategic direction, support on priorities, and oversight for key deliverables. Regular check-ins and milestone reviews will ensure alignment and progress.
