**JOB TITLE**: Program Janitor
**PROGRAMS**: Community Programs (various locations within Burnaby)
**DESCRIPTION**:The Program Janitor is an integral individual who will be responsible for keeping our facilities safe, clean, and in good repair.
**EMPLOYEE CATEGORY**: Part Time
**SALARY RANGE**:Grid 7 Step 2 - HEU - Community Subsector
**NUMBER OF VACANCIES**:1 (one) vacancy
**HOURS OF WORK**: 22.5 hours per week
**QUALIFICATIONS**
- High School Diploma.
- A valid BC driver’s license and access to reliable vehicle.
- Recent, related experience of two years or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Successful clearance of a criminal record check.
**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Collects and removes garbage and recyclable materials, and ensures the safe disposal of hazardous waste.
- Cleans external areas such as entranceways, sidewalks, and parking lots using brooms, rakes, shovels, and other equipment to remove dirt, leaves, and other refuse.
- Performs minor gardening and lawn maintenance tasks such as mowing, weeding, pruning, and watering.
- Removes snow and ice from building walkways, entrances, parking lots, and distributes Ice-Melt to above surfaces, to maintain a safe environment.
- Cleans, washes, and disinfects building areas such as walls, windows, ceilings, floors, carpets, air vents, furniture, mattresses, blinds, and washrooms by methods such as dusting, polishing, vacuuming, sweeping, wet mopping, shampooing, waxing, and buffing, using various manual and power cleaning equipment.
- Transports equipment, furniture, and supplies manually and/or using aides such as dollies and carts.
- Monitors maintenance and housekeeping supplies. Stores and distributes supplies, and contacts suppliers to obtain and provide general information.
- Assists with monitoring the safe functioning of the building and its residents, checking that doors and windows are secure, testing safety equipment, directing fire drills, and obtaining appropriate services in emergencies.
- Establishes, monitors, and carries out preventative maintenance procedures and schedules for buildings, equipment, and grounds. Makes recommendations for major repairs and purchases to Manager. Reports damaged and unsafe or faulty equipment to Manager.
- Be physically active throughout the shift (standing, walking, bending, lifting, stretching, twisting, reaching, pushing and pulling).
- Able to lift up to 40lbs.
- Performs other related duties as assigned

Part-time hours: 22.5 per week
**Salary**: $24.45 per hour
