Overview:
The prime objective of the
**Electrical Inspector** role is to ensure the integrity and reliability of all plant equipment via timely, planned, thorough and consistent inspections. The Electrical Inspector is responsible for the SAP-based PM program of Electrical inspections and thermography routes and motor lube routes. The Electrical Inspector will also assist in troubleshooting plant problems, supervision of the electrical tradespersons and assistance/vacation relief for the Automation and Systems Engineer.
**Responsibilities**:
- Responsible for both the visual inspection and integrity testing of all plant equipment
- Acts as owner of the thermography program and motor lubrication program and will gather pertinent data, analyze this data and initiate corrective action from this analysis
- Responsible for all functions or tasks necessary to achieve adequate operation, maintenance and performance of the equipment.
- Act as the owner of the SAP-based PM program and will ensure that PMs exist for all pieces of plant equipment, that all PMs have real and necessary information, have current schedules and are executed on a timely basis.
- Produce, update, analyze, and administer the PM check sheets on a timely basis and as required by the operation. This will also include, where applicable, a comprehensive oil analysis program.
- Keep a detailed history of all motor and drive test data and utilize this recorded data to assist the department in budgeting needs for long term planning.
- Assist the Electrical Coordinator and Automation/Systems Engineer in prioritizing plant issues and ensuring the right priority is given to know issues.
- Stay current and knowledgeable with the plant control system and plant computer systems so as to act as a resource for the Automation/Systems Supervisor.
- Support plant security on such matters as plant visitors, removal of property, receipt of merchandise, etc.
- Responsible for leading, mentoring and coaching the electrical personnel. The incumbent will promote and ensure safe work practices as well as efficient and effective work practices.
- Collaborate with the crew to determine training needs and will control and administer all daily concerns brought forth by the crew.
- Act as a safety leader and ensure safe practices by co-workers, employees and contractors in all areas of work in area of responsibility.
- Report on accidents / incidents assuring follow-up as per Richmond procedure.
- Act as the LCC (Lafarge Contractor Coordinator) for all electrical contractors brought to the Richmond plant site and supervise / manage employees and contractors (when required) - including:
- Ensuring compliance with all policies, procedures and applicable laws - e.g. Collective Agreement, O.T., Payroll, Absenteeism, etc.,
- Managing Employee and Contractor performance.
- Employee Development through being a mentor/coach.
- Assist in the development of daily and weekly electrical work schedules, ensuring work is completed in a timely manner as per plant priorities.
- Follow up on completed work to ensure equipment operability and job site cleanliness.
- Ensure compliance with Analyzer and CEMS inspections, testing and reporting as required by the plants permitting authorities.
- Ensuring compliance with all policies, procedures and standards (ASTM, CSA, MQO, internal targets and limits).
Qualifications:
- Red Seal or Blue Seal Journeyman Electrician **or **Two year technical degree in an electrical field.
- Five years of experience as electrical supervisor, preferably in a cement plant
- Three to five years electrical maintenance experience in an industrial environment
- Experience as electrical inspector/planner is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills (written and oral)
- Strong leadership skills
