Payroll Administrator

The Payroll Administrator is responsible for multiple activities relating to weekly payroll functions. This includes timely and accurate processing and reporting of payroll for company employees, as well as processing of staff expenses, reconciliations, and various other payroll functions.
Integrity and strong attention to detail are crucial for this role.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Preparation and administration of payroll for all union employees, while auditing payroll processing reports for accuracy
- Ensure that all salaries are paid accurately and on time to all employees
- Ensure that expense claims forms are filled out correctly and approved before processed with payroll
- Prepare weekly payroll source deduction remittance
- Prepare monthly EHT, WSIB remittance and annual reconciliation
- Process layoff payrolls and issue ROE
- Prepare T2200 form and other yearend forms as required
- Post payroll payment journal entries and reconcile all the payroll accounts
- Prepare monthly union remittance reports
- Maintain union agreements and correspond with unions
- Handle payroll inquiries from employees and CRA
- Maintain detailed records and documentation of payroll functions for audit purposes, in accordance with statutory requirements.
- Monitor vacation, holiday and attendance records for union employees
- Collaborate with the HR department and other departments to ensure pay and personnel records are accurate and up to date
- Maintain time and attendance system and handle timesheet inquiries from field employees, including Fieldtime software questions
- Other payroll or accounting duties as assigned
- Work with Accounts Payable department when time allows
**Qualifications**:
- Minimum three years of payroll experience within the construction industry
- Experience in a unionized environment is required
- Experience working with Jonas is an asset
- Canadian Payroll Association (PCP) designation is an asset
- Knowledge of Ontario legislative requirements and CRA regulations
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office products primarily in Excel and Word
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner
