Based in səl̓ilwətaʔɬ/North Vancouver BC, we are comprised of natural resource, forestry, fisheries, archaeology, and GIS professionals, with knowledgeable field personnel who offer an exceptional combination of academic training, work experience, and project management skills. **The Role**:In this newly established role, the Manager of Forestry & Capital Projects will play a pivotal role in advancing Inlailawatash's fifteen-year legacy towards achieving industry leadership in Indigenous forestry and renewable resource management. Collaborating closely with the senior management team, the Manager(FCP) will spearhead the management and advancement of our ecosystem-based forestry program.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Manage Inlailawatash’s ecosystem-based forestry program, working closely with senior management.
- Undertake a broad range of operational forestry fieldwork, utilizing and coordinating forestry consultants as required, including: cutblock and road reconnaissance and layout, bridge crossing design, site planning and data collection, logging supervision, post harvest surveys, reforestation and silviculture, etc.
- Manage First Nations, public and stakeholder consultations.
- Prepare and submit FSP and Woodlot Licence Plans and Management Plans.
- Coordinate and supervise harvesting and other operations, including on-site safety supervision.
- Work on strategic initiatives, partnership building, alternative revenue streams, etc.
- Manage other capital projects as required, including: bid responses, resource planning, subcontractor management, risk analysis & mitigation, client & contract management, etc.
**Qualifications and Skills**:
- Education/Experience_
- Knowledge of, and respect for, First Nations history, culture, and socio-economic contexts; keen interest in working for an Indigenous business seen as essential. Previous experience working in a First Nations community and/or business is an asset.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in forestry; Master’s degree in a related field is an asset.
- Registered with the FPBC as an RPF or RFT (or eligible for registration)
- 3+ years of relevant experience in forestry, with a strong operational forestry background.
- Strong project management ability and experience.
- Current clean drivers license.
- Technical Skills_
- Demonstrated ability to carry out a range of operational forestry fieldwork.
- Detailed knowledge of forestry planning documents & permits, including regulations & processes.
- Excellent managerial and teamworking skills.
- Excellent writing and digital communication skills with a demonstrated ability to repeatedly produce high-quality plans, reports, and other written products with strong attention to detail.
- Financial analysis and business planning acumen.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project).
- Knowledge in and demonstrated experience of Project Management.
- Strong awareness of the importance of safety, with the ability to develop, implement and manage safety protocols and procedures in coordination with work crews.
**Travel**: Partly office-based but includes a significant field component, including travel and occasional overnight stays.
**Working Hours**: 40-hour per week, overtime as required.
**Compensation**: $36-43/h CAD; Plus, Extended Health Benefits & Pension Plan
