The Equity and Inclusion Office (EIO), under the auspices of the Vice Provost, Equity and Inclusion, has a wide-ranging responsibility to collaborate with both campus and community partners. Our mandate includes identifying and resolving equity and inclusion issues, providing advisory services, promoting awareness and education on accessibility, equity, and inclusion, and facilitating the implementation of policies and practices that ensure fair and timely resolution of incidents related to harassment, discrimination, and sexual violence, including investigation services.
**Job Summary**:
Reporting to the Senior Director of Human Rights & Accessibility, with a dotted line to the Vice Provost, Equity & Inclusion, the Associate Director, Sexual Violence Prevention (AD SVP) is a central resource for members of the university community, including complainants, respondents, witnesses, friends and roommates, front-line service providers, externally contracted providers, staff, faculty, and leaders. The AD SVP, in consultation with the Senior Director of Human Rights & Accessibility, provides strategic direction, staff oversight, internal and external key consulted groups, liaison, and develops and implements an institutional Gender-Based and Sexual Violence (GBSV) prevention and education plan. The AD, SVP, creates and implements inclusive strategies and guides and oversees the creation and distribution of all marketing and awareness plans. Additionally, the AD SVP is responsible for identifying and reporting on campus-gendered violence trends and will initiate meaningful programming, support and services to address GBSV. The position serves to promote belonging, equity, health equity, diversity and inclusion by working with those most often impacted by sexual violence, Indigenous and equity
- deserving groups.
This position has a university-wide mandate and the incumbent provides leadership in a multi-campus environment, requiring regular interaction, communication and collaboration with McMaster community members and external partners. The AD, SVP will ensure the Sexual Violence Prevention programs and services are delivered equitably across all of our diverse community members and reflect the needs of local key consulted groups. Works with key consulted groups and serves as a community resource to ensure appropriate prevention of gender-based and sexual violence.
**Accountabilities**
- Acts as the institutional expert on issues related to Gender-Based and Sexual Violence
- Prepares reports as required to the University and external funders
- Coordinates all external contracts and services entered into by the university to educate on Gender-Based and sexual violence.
- Oversees the Peer Educators Program across campus to support GBSV work and initiatives
- When required, represents the university at the provincial and federal level when speaking to GBSV on campus
- When required, respond to media requests in consultation with other campus partners
- Liaise and consult with other GBSV offices across the province and Canada to explore partnerships and opportunities for learning
- Makes recommendations for change and participates in review of policies as appropriate
- Advises members of the campus community of their rights and responsibilities under the university’s Sexual Violence Policy and relevant legislation
- Assists in sexual violence risk assessment and safety planning for all persons impacted by sexual violence, including witnesses and respondents
- Co-leads, supports and responds to staff impacted by SV and Intimate Partner Violence
- Collaborates with various academic and other units to ensure optimal safety coordination
- Following assessment, escalates high risk situations to the Senior Director, Human Rights & Accessibility who will consult with the Response Team and appropriate police services as required and liaises with local and provincial police as necessary including McMaster Campus Safety Services.

- Implements an evaluative framework to facilitate the on-going assessment of the supports and services program including data-informed decision making
