**Position Summary**

The Manager, Strategic Communications develops and implements the organization’s internal and external communication strategies and programs in a manner that aligns with the organization’s mission, vision, values, and guiding principles. Working within a complex stakeholder landscape, the incumbent will utilize multiple platforms (based on effectiveness and accessibility needs), whilst considering cultural awareness to communicate information about programs and services, including changes related to transformation and innovation. The incumbent will partner with the client to ensure alignment to their strategic communications and engagements activities and objectives.

**Primary Duties**
- Collaborates cross-functionally in the development and implementation of external and internal communications strategy development and planning.
- Develops and designs written materials including client program-related documents, forms and associated processes as required.
- Provides guidance and direction to external partners to ensure communication and public relations is accurate, relevant, and consistent with the organization’s brand and overall corporate messaging.
- Oversees and implements communication of messages to both internal and external audiences
- Evaluates the effectiveness of communication programs and projects, and reports results back to senior management.
- Leads all internal and external communications initiatives, in alignment with client as appropriate.
- Develops and implements online communications strategy ensuring alignment with communications strategy, including day-to-day content development strategy, and functional enhancements.
- Serves as senior editor and provides communications content for internal, external and client program management purposes.
- Liaises and collaborates with cross-functional teams to provide creative solutions to communication challenges.
- May develop and manage internal/external events in support of corporate community engagement strategies.

**Required Experience**
- 5+ years of related experience in a communications management role
- Experience establishing and overseeing an organization-wide communications function / program preferred

**Required Qualifications**
- University undergraduate degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, or a related discipline. Master’s level degree preferred.
- Specialized communications related education, training and certifications preferred

**Required Competencies**
- Strong working knowledge of communication principles and practices
- Capacity to engage with client(s) to ensure clear and consistent two-way communication
- Demonstrated leadership, coaching skills, and capability to develop direct reports
- Must possess excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication with strong writing and editorial abilities.
- Proven relationship building skills, with primary focus on the organization or client’s needs and priorities
- Adaptability to changing priorities and evolving circumstances
- Demonstrated analytical and logical thinking, sound judgement skills with the ability to engage necessary resources to solve complex problems
- Ability to effectively plan, prioritize and follow through in a timely manner and with anticipation of potential roadblocks
- Ability to persuade and gain consensus across a diverse group of stakeholders
