**Job Overview**
Reports to the Director of Nursing/Clinical Manager and is responsible for providing support to the Registered staff according to the needs of the residents/building. Assist in the maintenance of optimal safety standards to ensure the safety of residents, staff and visitors. Must be familiar with the occupational health and safety requirements in the Home. Report all injuries, unsafe equipment/ practices or occupational hazards to Charge Nurse/RPN on assigned unit. Complete Mandatory Training (minimum annually) as required under FLTCA, 2021 AND Regulations. Attend in-service education sessions, staff meetings and workshops as directed by immediate supervisor.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Assist in portering residents to/from meals.
- Assist in the feeding of totally dependent residents and assist other with their meals as per care plan.
- Assess needs and distribute supplies to the resident rooms/washrooms, including stocking IPAC supplies in yellow bags.
- Review and ensure resident clothing, dentures, hearing aids, glasses, toiletries, brushes and other personal belongings are correctly labeled and stored in designated areas.
- Ensure effective communication and documentation of resident's care needs to the appropriate team member.
- Exercise infection control practices at all times. Ensure laundry is send down on time following meals/heavy care periods.
- Assist in portering resident to scheduled activation programs. - Assess and notify Charge Nurse/RPN of supply needs.
- Complete bedside audits and clothing audits as scheduled/ requested, and ensure appropriate follow up is conducted.
- Assist in the admission and discharge of residents by escorting new residents to assigned rooms, unpacking and storing and labeling their clothing and personal items.
- Support newly admitted residents with daily visits, prepare admission welcome baskets, and provide a tour/orientation of the Home.
- Support End-of-Life care by checking in with resident/families as needed.
- Assist in the orientation of new staff as directed.
- Support front desk coverage/scheduling as required. Photocopy and stock office supplies needed at reception desk.
- May conduct tours as scheduled for potential new residents/families.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Actively participate in scheduled fire/disaster drills.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education**-Must have successfully completed a Personal Support Worker program that meets the requirements as set up in the FLTCA, 2021. Ont Reg. 246/22., Medical Receptionist or equivalent.

**Knowledge**-Must be familiar with Long-Term care Nursing department polices and procedures. Must understand the basics of good sanitation techniques and be knowledgeable with respect to the needs of residents.

**Attributes-** Must be mature and possess good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with residents, families and visitors. Must be in good mental and physical health. Must be sensitive and empathetic to the needs of the residents.

Pay: From $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
