**Position Summary**: The cook is responsible for all preparation of food, for residents, guests and special functions. Such food preparation will be done while maintaining inventory and quality control, food production and recipe control, diet control for therapeutic and texture modified diets, and cost control. The cook is also responsible for maintaining sanitation, safety and equipment in the work area. These duties and responsibilities shall be conducted in accordance with mission and vision statement, policies, procedures, and work routines of the facility, always respecting resident's rights. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities**: 1. Prepare soup,stocks, desserts, nourishments, breakfast, dinner and supper meals for regular, therapeutic and texture diets. 2. Maintain safe food handling practices 3. Assist in serving hot foods utilizing portion control 4. Assist in cleaning and sanitation routines of work areas, cooking and food preparation equipment. 5. Follow safe food storage, thawing, "holding", cooking, "critical control points" in accordance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP)procedures. 6. Record food temperatures and prepare food samples 7. Adhere to all policies and procedures pertaining to the operation of the facility in regard to : infection control, health and safety, personal practices,internal and external emergencies, resident's rights, confidentiality 8. Work in a safe manner by: promptly reporting accidents/illness,seeking out first aid when appropriate, cooperating in health treatment. 9. Interact tactfully and courteously with residents, residents family, tenants, visitors and fellow staff 10. Perform additional duties required **Qualifications Required**: 1. Formal training program in food preparation and cooking for the minimum certification level of the Certificate of Qualification for Cook Level 1 in the Trades Qualifications Act. The training program must include general kitchen management, food preparation, scheduling, principles and requirements of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment. 2. Read, write and understand to follow/ carry out instructions in English independently. 3. Able to complete simple mathematical calculations for estimating quantities and recipe conversions. 4.
