**Quality Lead**

We are looking for a** Quality Lead **for our Peterborough, Ontario site. BWXT NEC's Fuel Handling and Engineered Solutions group is involved in the design, manufacture, development, testing, parts supply, and service of on-power refueling, reactor maintenance, and nuclear medicine delivery tooling sold around the world. We are the original designer of the automated systems that allow 24/7 on power refueling of CANDU reactors and aim to solve some of the Nuclear Industry’s most challenging problems. Today, BWXT’s equipment is being used in most of the nuclear power plants in Canada and is critical to delivering carbon free energy production and lifesaving medical isotopes.

**JOB SUMMARY**:
The Quality Leads (QL) report to the Quality and Training Manager. The QL take on the more complex jobs or provide support and coaching when challenges occur in any job. They often work in “rule-based” activities where they rely on how previous jobs were executed, QA procedures and codes/standards to determine how to complete the work. They sometimes work in “knowledge-based” activities where they rely on their experience, knowledge, ability to reason; to determine how to proceed. The QL help identify and resolve problems with Engineering, customers representatives, vendors, and our manufacturing team.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**_Technical Resource for QA and Manufacturing teams_**
- Lead and/or act as Technical Resource for QA on large projects with many manufacturing requirements, extended supply chains, and/or new designs/build projects.
- Support QAEAs and QS by acting as a resource for highly complex decisions, analysis and problem solving. Support others in the interpretation of drawings, technical documents, procedures, codes and standards.
- Analyze, investigate and research complex problems and provide technical direction to QA and manufacturing project teams.
- Interact with Engineering, Customers, Suppliers and Manufacturing to resolve issues.
- Lead Nuclear auditor - meet all requirement of NQA-1 to be a Lead Nuclear audit, which includes training, testing, on the job training and on-going maintenance. Supporting QS in the development of audit plans, completion of audits and creation of audit reports.
- Interface with TSSA for nonstandard non-conformance reviews and disposition/agreement on how to proceed for non-standard jobs.

**_Support development of QA programs_**
- Use continuous improvement strategies to determine how to improve on standardized QA processes.
- Trainer for SAT-based training packages. Update and improve existing training packages.
- Read and interpret new codes and standards up-dates, determine/identify gaps, and provide feedback, opinion, strategy, support.
- Support activities outside of BWXT (CSA committees, CANIAC auditor, COG support, ASME interpretations, etc), as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- University or college degree in engineering, science, or technology.
- Well developed knowledge/understanding and experience evaluating the results of non-destructive examination reports (RT, UT, LP, MP, etc.), dimensional inspection techniques and weld inspection.
- Well-developed knowledge/understanding, and experience determining the correct level of QA planning and testing required for jobs being built to any code and/or standard including pressure boundary, electrical, software, etc (ASME NCA 3800 and 4000, NQA-1, CSA N285, N286 -12, N286.7, Z/N299, ISO 9001, Q396).
- Well-developed knowledge/understanding and experience reviewing Product/Process/Equipment qualifications.
- Well-developed knowledge/understanding and experience interpreting drawings and technical documents.
- Lead Auditor for vendor audits.
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in Nuclear.
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in Engineering design and/or quality.

**DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS**:

- Licensed Ontario professional engineer.
