As a world leader in the design and manufacturing industry, Active Exhaust is seeking an eager and enthusiastic **Prototype Technician **to join our successful Toronto team immediately. We are looking for a talent with solid professional skills.
**Position Overview**:
The Prototype Technician is responsible for ensuring prototype parts meet requirements, providing data to assist our team in problem-solving, following the design plan, and evaluating projects. The Technician will be performing quality control to ensure our products work the way they should and writing testing reports.
This position reports to the Protoshop Supervisor.
**What you will be doing**:

- Fabricate prototype exhaust systems and components
- Assemble exhaust components using production representative parts and processes
- Construct welding jigs and checking fixtures to ensure final components meet dimensional tolerances specified on engineering prints.
- Weld samples in accordance with applicable AWS standards
- Identifying components, jigs, and fixtures as required
- Maintain requirements of the engineer in conjunction with QA and testing department
- Communication & coordination with all other departments & vendors
- Performs other duties as assigned

**What you bring along**:

- Mechanical Technician Diploma
- Proven work experience for at least 1+ years in a similar role
- Millwright's experience is an asset
- Proficient in the use of metal inert gas welding of carbon, stainless, and coated steels
- Experience in fabrication and use of equipment such as lathes, milling machines, and drills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Understands general dimensions and tolerances, per ASME Y14.5
- Product design and analytical skills are crucial for this role
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and complete projects as required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
