This position is eligible for our Hybrid Work Program.** **Posting ID**: 3800 **Department**: Social & Community Services **Division**: Children's Services **Pay Range**: $31.57 - $39.47 **Job Type**: Temporary < 1 year **Contract Duration**: 8 months **Hours of Work**: 35 hours per week **Work Location**: Halton Regional Centre - 1151 Bronte Road, Oakville **Employee Group**: OCT **Posting Date**:January 8, 2025 **Application Deadline**: January 17, 2025 **Job Summary**: The Behavioural Consultant Assistant works with children and youth with a developmental disability and/ or Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) from 2 - 21 years of age, and their families, in a home, school or community setting. The Behavioural Consultant Assistant works alongside Behavioural Consultants to assist children, youth and families to build their capacity and support their behaviour plans. **Duties & Responsibilities**: - Assists the Behavioural Consultant to provide direct hands-on coaching, modeling and support of specific behaviour strategies to children and youth with developmental disabilities and/or FASD and their families. - Observes and records child/youth behaviour while maintaining regular communication with Behaviour Consultants and families to support desired behavioural outcomes. - Provides support in a variety of settings including in homes, schools, and other community settings. - Supports group facilitation. - Organizes materials such as visuals, binders, and handouts that support behavioural plans and groups. - Works within an integrated team of professionals. - Performs other duties as assigned. **Skills & Qualifications**: - College Diploma in a related field. - Two (2) years of experience working with families and community programs to address the behaviour needs of children and young adults with developmental disabilities and/or FASD. - Strong group facilitation skills. - Knowledge of alternative communication strategies. - Knowledge of the Child and Family Services Act. - Fluency in French or a second language other than English would be considered an asset. **Working/ Employment Conditions**: **Working Conditions** - Travel will be required between locations within Halton Region.
