**What you will do**
Under the direction of the Manager Information Governance & Standards in Knowledge and Information Services, you are responsible for delivering advice and guidance on information management, and electronic record keeping, and provide direction on metadata standards, vocabularies, and taxonomies within corporate information systems.

Working as Analyst within an internal group of metadata specialists, Information policy analysts, policy advisors and librarians you will provide direction to clients to ensure the ongoing high-quality metadata within repositories and adherence to evolving best practices and standards including the Bank of Canada’s Information Policy. In addition, you will conduct consultations with stakeholders to aid ongoing assessments and continuous improvement of existing information management and metadata within information systems.

As a Metadata and Standards Analyst, you will be responsible for:

- providing hands-on support to clients for the development and management of term sets, naming conventions and other controlled vocabularies
- working closely with the Senior Policy Advisor in developing and evolving components of the Bank’s information governance program and enterprise metadata standard
- briefing internal clients on repository requirements (configuration of retention) for data and records lifecycle management
- providing ongoing functional classification, retention and disposition coaching
- producing data dictionaries and metadata crosswalks
- providing detailed updates at various organization levels
- making complex datasets understandable through designing user friendly interfaces; continuously improving metadata to enhance reporting and data visualization (dashboards)
- supporting CRM coordinator with business and metadata needs analysis

**What you need to succeed**
- familiarity creating data dictionaries for corporate information databases or repositories
- knowledge of user experience design (usability) for data entry and reporting
- ability to interpret and assess metadata quality
- make appropriate recommendations on how to integrate data from various databases and repositories
- knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365
- knowledge of one or more metadata schemas and protocols such as Dublin Core, DDI, etc.
- knowledge of the Library and Archives of Canada Act and other legislation related to information and metadata
- strong communication skills, both oral and written
- strong presentation, analytical and problem-solving skills
- very strong ability to gather information, assess potential issues, resolve discrepancies, make appropriate recommendations and decisions and escalate in a timely manner
- high level of accuracy and quality of work

**Nice-to-have**
- knowledge of privacy compliance and data protection practices
- experience with a metadata/taxonomy tool/system
- experience building and managing ontologies
- proven experience using Microsoft 365 Platform
- knowledge of the Bank of Canada’s purpose, mission and values, strategic priorities, organizational structure, corporate goals and objectives, corporate policies and regulatory framework

**Your education and experience**
This position requires a combination of work experience and education that allow you to deliver at the activities listed above, such as a graduate of a master’s program in library and information sciences from an American Library Association accredited program (e.g., MLIS, MIS) or in a related discipline, and approximately two years of relevant work experience.

- Language requirement: English and French essential (bilingual) with a minimum starting level of functional (level 4) in second official language. Training may be provided to help reach the required level of fully functional (level 5) in second official language.
