**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the duties and responsibilities of this role include:

- Comprehensive, working knowledge of relevant legislation and guidelines - Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workplace Safety & Insurance Act, CSA Standards, Fixing Long Term Care Homes Act
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in WSIB case management, ergonomics and safety
- Ability to investigate, analyze information, determine trends and draw conclusions
- Analyze workplace safety data, understand and determine premium rates status and develop continuous improvement opportunities, with ability to communicate results and prepare reports and presentations as required
- Strong assessment and teaching skills with ability to lead and motivate others to achieve Health & Safety initiatives
- Model and foster an environment of positive customer service and foster positive relationships with staff
- Leader in Wellness and able to identify needs and develop initiatives
- Completes audits to support an effective quality system with a strong emphasis on OH&S Programs
- Participates in all phases of Continuous Quality Improvement activities including completing reports and inspections as well as CMI initiatives, Quality Data monitoring and MOLTC compliance plan development and follow up
- Strong computer knowledge and data entry and presentation skills
- Responsible for facilitating programs under the LTCHA
- Lead for the Occupational Health & Safety Committee

**FORMAL EDUCATION**:

- Canadian Safety Certification or Post-Secondary Education in Health & Safety is required
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation and guidelines - Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workplace Safety & Insurance Act, CSA Standards is required
- Diploma or Certificate in Human Resources Management is preferred
- Knowledge of Fixing Long Term Care Homes Act is preferred
- Familiar with Health & Safety Associations (i.e. PSHSA, IHSA, WHSC) is required
- JOHS Certification I and IIJOHS Certification I and II is required
- Minimum 1 -3 years’ experience in health-care as well as knowledge of applicable legislation is required
- Experience in Wellness programs is an asset
