**Life Cycle and Materiel Manager (LCMM) - Naval Architecture Specialist**
**Position Summary**
Thales Canada is looking for a Life Cycle and Materiel Manager (LCMM) - Naval Architecture (Hull) Specialist to support its non-Combatant In-Service Support Programs for the Royal Canadian Navy.
The LCMM - Naval Architecture Specialist is responsible for engineering support and technical oversight of various hull systems and fittings on board the AOPS and JSS class ships, including but not limited to hull and marine systems, including mooring and anchoring systems, outfittings, marine structure and coatings, propulsion systems, lifesaving equipment, and lifting appliances. Accountable to the Operational Support Manager and working directly with various internal and external stakeholders, this role manages various activities to establish and maintain the configuration and design intent of the marine auxiliary and other mechanical systems on the ships and manage any changes through their end-of-life and divestment.
**Key Areas of Responsibility**
The key functions and areas of responsibility for the LCMM - Naval Architecture Specialist include but is not limited to:
- Performing Life Cycle and Materiel Management functions including but not limited to equipment obsolescence, material compatibility issues, alternate part investigations, maintenance management, and disposal management;
- Supporting and managing activities associated with the design and configuration control of the vessels including conducting functional and physical configuration audits, as well as deviations and waivers documentation;
- Providing technical advice to enable auxiliary and mechanical equipment and/or systems to be correctly operated or maintained;
- Monitoring systems and equipment performance through various reports such as but not limited to Unsatisfactory Condition Reports (UCRs), Pre-installation failures (PIFs) and technical investigations (TIs) conducted by the customer;
- Ensuring proper level of spares are maintained throughout the life of the systems and equipment; support the cataloguing process;
- Conducting technical investigations into problems associated with combat systems, equipment and/or software issues, including failure analysis and solution recommendation;
- Developing and reviewing technical documentation including equipment specifications, installation and maintenance instructions, test and trials agendas, and engineering change documentation and drawings;
- Analyzing requirements associated with baseline changes to the ships configuration, equipment and software;
- Liaise with OEMs, Service Providers and ship staff to support the investigation and resolution of defects;
- Preparing documented work scopes, suitable for the solicitation of quotations from external resources such as OEMs, manufacturers, suppliers, testing facilities or specialist service providers; and
- Preparing and managing Work Packages and cost estimates for customer approval.
**Minimum Requirements**
- Minimum education requirements:3-year technical program diploma (for Technologists) or 2-year technical program diploma (for Technicians) in a marine technical field offered by a recognized technical institute; or
Certified a technologist or technician by a recognized provincial, state, or federal (national) licensing body in a relevant field or certified body; or
Certified as one of the following trades of the Canadian Armed Forces:Marine Technician RQ-PO1 or RQ-PO2
QL7 Marine Engineer
QL 6A or 6B Hull Technician
- Possess a minimum 8 years of demonstrated professional work experience in the naval, marine, or offshore industry within the last 15 years;
- Extensive knowledge of hull systems and fittings
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
- Familiar with safety standards;
**Preferred Qualifications**
- Strong working knowledge in the maintenance, operation, design, troubleshooting and/or repair of a wide range of hull and marine systems, including mooring and anchoring systems, outfittings, marine structure and coatings, propulsion systems, lifesaving equipment, and lifting appliances;
- Previous experience with the Royal Canadian Navy or Canadian Coast Guard;
- Previous experience as a Life Cycle Materiel Manager hull and/or other marine systems;
- Demonstrated project management experience;
- Familiar with the Department of National Defense (DND) maintenance management and implementation system “DRMIS”;
- Experience in delivering marine in-service support of operational assets; and
- Familiar with certification requireme
