The Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ontario Provincial Police, and the Commander of Central Region is seeking a qualified individual to join our Orillia Detachment. In this exciting, rewarding and challenging opportunity, you will manage court case files for a Detachment, providing liaison services with the court and monitoring the progress of files through the court system. You will also provide court security services for the detachment and court and participate in the escort of offenders. **About Us**: The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is one of North America's largest deployed police services with more than 5,800 uniformed officers, 2,400 civilian employees and 830 Auxiliary officers. The Orillia Detachment is located in Simcoe County and incorporates the City of Orillia and the Townships of Oro-Medonte, Ramara and Severn. These are vibrant communities, hosting numerous tourists year-round. The detachment area encompasses Highways 11, 12 and 400; the major transportation links between Ontario's cottage country and Southern Ontario. Patrol and enforcement also occur on the motorized snow vehicle trails and waterways, such as Lakes Couchiching and Simcoe, and parts of the Trent Severn Waterway. Additionally, the Lake Simcoe Regional Airport serves as an integral part of the area's transportation infrastructure. The detachment area also encompasses Mara, McRae, and Bass Lake Provincial Parks making it a popular location for day use and overnight camping. To manage court case files for a Detachment, providing liaison services with the court and monitoring the progress of files through the court system. To provide court security services for the detachment and court and to participate in the escort of offenders. How do I qualify? Mandatory - Ability to pass an OPP background security investigation. - Ability to attain and maintain Special Constable status. - Ability to pass and maintain ongoing certification in Use of Force. **Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**: - Knowledge of OPP, Attorney General and Ministry policies and procedures (including Records Management System procedures) and legislation related to court proceedings, administration and documentation to coordinate detachment activities at court and ensure appropriate preparation and completion of all required court documents and information. - Knowledge of relevant sections of legislation such as the Criminal Code, Young Offenders Act, Youth Criminal Justice Act, Family Law Act, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, provincial offenses and municipal by-laws to coordinate court proceedings, prepare briefs and other court documents. Knowledge of court processes (summons' subpoenas, warrants), procedures, operations and scheduling to coordinate and monitor court proceedings (attending bail court, criminal case management court, youth case management court, trial scheduling and Judicial Intensive Case Management Court). - Ability to perform a wide range of work within the policies and procedures of the organization, Ministry and the court system. Works under mínimal daily supervision within defined parameters and procedures. - Oral Communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with and communicate, relay and exchange information, much of which is sensitive and confidential, with Judges, Justices of the Peace, Crown Attorneys, defense lawyers, uniformed officers, witnesses, victims, probation and parole officers, court staff and the public. - Oral communication skills to testify regarding continuity of drug exhibits in court, as required. - Interpersonal skills to interact with prisoners to elicit their cooperation while e
