Scale Attendant

The Scale Operator will direct customers to offload their materials into various areas on site. The Scale-house Attendant’s must ensure that all vehicles entering the waste station are inspected, and charged appropriately.

Job Duties:
Transfer Station:

- Answer customer inquiries relative to transfer station use and charges and recycling
- Greet customers and drivers at the scale house is a pleasant and professional manner
- Handle issues a customer may have pertaining to billing or service for all customers, in a timely, accurate and professional manner and seek assistance when needed
- Track all traffic coming into the yard, scale all incoming and outgoing vehicles, record information
- Obtain information regarding material entering the transfer station and calculate the appropriate fee to be charged for disposal or refuse
- Visually inspects loads for hazardous waste and advise haulers of questionable material on proper procedure for disposal
- Direct vehicles using the transfer station relative to proper dumping areas, such as composting, soil, yard waste, recycling, etc.
- Track and record any complaints and compliments
- Record and prepare clear and concise reports from data, documenting all outgoing material and incoming material on a monthly summary
- Input and track all outgoing activity in a excel spreadsheet
- Work collaboratively with other Scale-house Attendants, Operators, Yard Labourers, and other personal.
- Perform all other duties as required
- Other duties that may arise as assigned by supervisor or members of the Management Team.

**Requirements**:

- Experience in a customer service position involving receipt and disbursement of money
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Perform basic mathematics skills
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and the general public
- Deal with public and general contractors and suppliers courteously and tactfully

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $19.00-$23.00 per hour
