We are hiring a full-time, permanent **Operator**ll** position working out of Regina, SK.

The Operator II assists colleagues to resolve problems, operates the wastewater treatment plant in accordance with standard operating procedures and best operational practices. These practices provide the operator the guidelines to gauge current operations against anticipated normal expectations. The Operator II performs process field tests and uses the information along with SCADA information to make decisions and makes plant process adjustments. Upon the recognition of abnormal conditions, the Operator II works with the Operator III and Lead Hand to resolve issues. This operator makes sound operational decisions, operates equipment, performs plant adjustments and is capable of performing core Operator III duties when the Operator III is not available. The Operator II may also need to perform Operator I duties when required for operational reasons.

What you’d be responsible for
- Performing process field tests and using SCADA information to make decisions and plant process adjustments.
- Recognizing and addressing abnormal conditions in collaboration with the Operator III and Lead Hand.
- Making sound operational decisions, operating equipment, and handling plant adjustments, including core Operator III duties when unavailable.
- Performing Operator I duties when required for operational needs.
- Adhering to company policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and all Occupational Health and Safety regulations to foster a zero-injury and occupational illness culture.
- Providing input to Operations plans and fostering cooperation internally and externally to build collaborative relationships.
- Assisting with training other operators as needed.
- Recording operational data accurately in written or computerized formats to comply with contractual and regulatory requirements.
- Performing and documenting field tests, interpreting results, and making adjustments to optimize plant operations and meet efficiency goals.
- Using systems like IVARA and performing housekeeping tasks to meet company standards.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable wastewater regulations and reporting significant operational events or issues to the Manager and Lead Hand.
- Maintaining or increasing certifications and completing training plans with management support.
- Planning and communicating schedule impacts for time-off requests such as vacations or appointments.
- Operating and troubleshooting process units, chemicals, and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Following all safety rules, correcting unsafe conditions, and preventing unsafe acts when witnessed.

What’s required to be successful
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent level of secondary education is required.
- Additional education such as water/ wastewater courses or other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Must have a valid Level II Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate.
- Must have a valid 3A driver’s license or obtaining it within 6 months of hire.
- Must have a 5th class boilerman (Fireman’s) certificate or obtaining it within 1 year of hire.
- 2+ years of experience in a large water utility.
- Ability to qualify for and maintain an EPCOR driver’s permit, which requires a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Motor Vehicle Operator's License
- A Driver Abstract (5 year commercial type) will be required.
- Prior infractions for unsafe driving behaviours will be evaluated and considered for non-selection.
- Drivers with a GDL class may be considered (pending driving behavior review referenced above).
- Strong understanding of biological systems and wastewater plant operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, with working knowledge of SCADA systems.
