**Accounting Technician Job Description**

At SG LLP Chartered Professional Accountants, we keep our clients’ financial information on track with timely, thoughtful and thorough service. The Accounting Technician position requires a strong understanding of the intricacies of bookkeeping including assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other financial transactions within an organization. The Accounting Technician plays an important professional role in the provision of bookkeeping, accounting, financial statement preparation and taxation services.

**Objectives of this Role**
- Detailed bookkeeping using desktop and online bookkeeping software packages for a variety of businesses
- Execute general ledger account reconciliations, accurate reporting, and data verification
- Monitor accounting policies and controls of clients
- Continue ongoing education by participating in webinars, workshops, and networking events

**Daily and Monthly Responsibilities**
- Perform detailed daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and / or annual bookkeeping for clients, as required
- Performs general ledger account reconciliations, verify accuracy of data and correct errors made by both internal and external personnel
- Support timely monthly, quarterly, half-year, and year-end financial closings, including preparation of adjusting journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, accruals, overall maintenance of all operational management accounts, and corresponding with clients for assigned files
- Assist in the preparation of working paper files, including drafting financial statements and related notes, and completing all required checklists for the engagement

**Skills and Qualifications**
- Bookkeeping experience and / or certification as a bookkeeper
- Experience using QuickBooks desktop and online software, Sage desktop and online software
- Experience in providing bookkeeping and accounting services
- Ability and willingness to keep client confidentiality and privacy
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and organize efficiently
- Desire to pursue ongoing development in their professional career
