Support Worker

**PURPOSE AND SUMMARY**
Under the direction of the Program CEO and Director, the Family Reunification Worker (FRW) will provide guidance and support to families in order to promote safety, success and well-being for families. The FRW is responsible to work with families that require additional support and guidance in order to maintain family unity or reunification in a manner that respects and incorporates the concept of family-centred, culturally appropriate, and community-based care. The FRW will utilize relationship-building techniques and management skills in ensuring **Stepping Stones Group Care** meets and succeed the needs of our families. As an FRW you will be responsible for the overall management of your home. Your core goal as FRW will centre on supporting your family to overcome challenges that have caused child intervention to be involved but not limited to other aspects as well i.e., mental, emotional, spiritual and physical health.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Support Prevention and Family Support Responsibilities**
- Responsible for providing support and relevant guidance to parents by following what was stated upon admission to the program.
- Responsible for providing parents with the tools for healthy child development and build on the strengths of the families. The FRW will foster positive relationship building with parents, children, families and partners.
- Engage families and communities to direct and promote family well-being;
- Increase and promote natural family wellness and health through family and community supports in order to prevent family breakdown;
- Build on existing natural family and community helpers to support family reunification;
- Arrange and facilitate case conferences that include parents, children and community
- In conjunction with the family, community and extended support develop the relevant plans for transition, safety and well-being of the family;
- Plan, participate and coordinate cultural, recreational and social programming for the family to promote success and well-being;
- Support the family to connect with natural and community supports;
- Arrange for traditional healing and other ceremonies or resources from the Indigenous community as determined by the family;
- Assist the family to access community resources as needed, as well as help families with the transition for independent living through practical life skills practices and know how’s;
- Participate in team meetings and training as per policies and procedures;
- Participate in program evaluation;
- Act as a resource to the Family Support Worker in the performance of their duties and responsibilities, i.e., responding, assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, documenting;
- Participate in the Family Support Worker’s activities as a resource person - recommending, assisting, and acting as required/requested;
- Coordinate and/or participate in the provision of an immediate response to individuals, families and/or communities experiencing a crisis, e.g., death of a parent, etc.

**Case Management**
- Ensure service plans are completed on time
- Arrange case conference meeting with a caseworker
- Ensure programming/service plans are written professionally
- Ensure families are in proper programming as per caseworker expectations and program goals
- Ensure proper documentation is completed by you and all staff
- FRWs need to be available during new intakes
- FRWs need to be available and at the home when caseworkers come to the home
Note: This position may require flexibility in working hours and locations, as relief workers may be called upon to fill in for regular staff members as needed.
**Job Type**: Casual
Pay: $21.00-$24.00 per hour
